A return to League Two action at EP this weekend - and, despite last night's reverse, an opportunity to keep going the winning run that really matters!
Victory on Saturday would see us equal the 12-match record streak for the fourth tier, most recently achieved by Luton.
Post all your hopes and dreams here...

My hopes are that County win this one. My dreams are that my Doorbell rings any minute now, and when I look on the camera I see a reincarnated Ingrid Bergman begging me to run away with her, with promises of untold riches and never having to come in to this f***ing awful job again - oh, and she's driven to my house in the missing Goldfinger Aston Martin which she's giving to me as a gesture of her undying love for me. Too much? Okay, she doesn't have to tell me she loves me, but I'm still having that f***ing car!

Under the terms of the lease on my apartment I am not allowed to have a pet but I am allowed to have a Bird in a cage.
So I said well can I have that Beyonce then, 'cos she's a right sort she is, or how about that Liz Hurley..... but apparently I'm not allowed that sort of Bird...
Sad really, no wonder this country is going to the dogs.

Ah well, I suppose I'd better stick to my knitting, and ask what can we tell about Colchester United?
Well, they presently sit in 16th place with a record of P 17 W 6 D 2 L 9 F 26 A 31. Their A form is a bit more hit and miss W 3 L 5 F 10 L 14. Their Ws are Gillingham (a) 0-3 (after losing their first 3 L 2 games), Tranmere (h) 2-0, Notts County (h) 5-4, Grimsby (a) 2-3, Accy Stanley (a) 0-1 and Swindon (h) 3-1. The Ds are Mansfield (h) 1-1 and Sutton (h) 1-1.The Ls are Bratfut (a) 2-1, AFC Wombles (h) 0-2, MKD (h) 2-3, Walsall (a) 1-0, Crewe (a) 2-1, Newport (a) 2-1, Morecambe (h) 1-3, FGR (a) 5-0 and Harrogate (h) 1-2.
It's hard to pick much out of that lot but their last 4 L 2 games have been W 3 D 1, including the scalps of Swindon and playoff adjacent Accy Stanley which have lifted them up the table a fair bit. That bounce may be because on 21st Oct they got rid of ex-Swindon and ex-Charlton boss Ben Garner and appointed Matthew Etherington as caretaker boss.
Top scorer on 7 is diminutive striker Joe Taylor on season long loan loan from Luton (he started out at Peterborough). Next up with 4 goals and 4 assists is fellow forward Arthur Read (previously of Luton, Brentford and Stevenage - 6 goals in 95 apps in total). Also on 4 goals is 19 year old Samson Tovide. Three other players have scored 2 apiece and four more have scored 1 each. So quite a spread but they look to have a goal or two in them. Look at their results though and they look shaky at the back.
They signed a few in the summer: Southampton's 18 year old D Nico Lawrence signed on season long loan after playing 20 times for Torquay as they were relegated from the National League. He was followed by Crystal Palace's 19 year old GK Owen Goodman on season long loan. Then came 19 year old (bit of a theme there) Arsenal MF Mauro Bandeira also on season long etc, he was followed by ex Arsenal GK Tom Smith on a two year deal. Joe Taylor, as mentioned above, joined on a season long loan from Luton. Ex-Charlton FB Mandela Egbo signed a two year deal. All those teenagers seem like precisely the kind of player that Ben Garner used at Swindon where it worked, but seemingly it hasn't worked (yet) at Cole U.
On deadline day the Us signed F Owura Edwards from Bristol City, MF Jay Mingi from Portsmouth, Charlton D Zach Mitchell and NI International much-travelled Cameron McGeehan (ex Belgian club KV Oostende, Barnsley and several other clubs).
Now all of that, most particularly the pedigree of many of those players, suggests that the Us should be comfortable in mid table at least but their poor start to the season and what has been referred to as a losing culture, perhaps explains why they have struggled until recently. I suspect they could get a goal on County but I doubt they can keep County out at the other end so this looks like a Home Banker to me.
That said, and I confess a slight conflict of interest here, I hope they do well because, having worked at Royal London for a time I know quite a few of folk from down that way, the Colchester Mafia as they were affectionately known. So I wish them every success, except when playing County
Meanwhile, elsewhere in L2: 5th placed Notts County v 18th placed (and pre season promotion favourites) Bratfut 8th placed Accy Stanley v 2nd placed Wrexham 10th placed Gillingham v 15th placed Salford 3rd placed Mansfield v 20th placed Newport

3 points in the bag and the beat goes on. 12 in a row. 2 assists from Macca, Wootts forced the ball home, and a superb first touch/ shot from Callum Camps. Not forgetting 2 good saves by Ben.

Part of one post of theirs...
"As for the game - top of the league, you’re having a laugh aren’t you. 2 minutes of lack of concentration either side of half-time was the only difference, and their keeper getting MoM speaks volumes. No disgrace against a scummy club who will sadly probably go on to get promoted"
Eh?
Nowt like sour grapes.

I just knew that making Ben MoM would lead someone connected with Colchester to make an assertion implying they battered us!

Another three points from a below par performance from all accounts.
Really pleased for Woots. He’s back for sure! Him and Tanto have the makings of a great partnership.
What’s even more impressive is that we’ve managed this run with a lengthy injury list.
