Our exit from the League Cup earlier during August means a free midweek in the final days of this month - and the focus now falls on next Saturday, a return to EP, and, hopefully, an opportunity that will be taken to get back to winning ways.
You know what to do...

DC needs to get the kettle on, make Simon Wilson a nice big mug of shut the f*** up, then get on with doing what he does best.
Problem solved!

Currently 2-1, with Crawley pulling one back after County went 2-0 up through Barry and Sarcevic. Powell said to be having a good game, but Knoyle off injured, which is all we f***ing need.
I think it's about time we got the strength and conditioning coach to explain what's going on, because this injury list is getting longer. Whatever they're doing with the players, it doesn't seem to be working.

Barry misses a decent chance then they equalise through sh**e defending - 2-2. Typical County.
Didn't these get walloped for 6 at Swindon last week?

The cynic in me is wondering if DC is trying to get himself sacked, paid off, thus saving Charlton the compo - then taking the job anyway!
Just a thought.

Can't really comment on the specifics of the game because I'm not watching it but there is clearly something wrong at the club at the moment. The recruitment policy seems to be utterly shambolic, the manager has had a conversation with another club and the team seem incapable of holding onto a lead.
There seems to be a revolving door into and out of the squad which, to an outsider (I now consider myself to be one such) seems to treat players as some sort of disposable asset to be hired and moved on at the drop of a hat.
It struck me from the outset that Challinor talking to Charlton was a bit odd since his management career has been exclusively up north and generally within easy reach of his Wirral home. One can speculate on his motives but surely one of them was the possibility that he was signalling his dissatisfaction with the performance of certain of his seniors.
Add to that, an unusually lengthy injury list which clearly doesn't help but perhaps one shouldn't be entirely surprised if that lot manifests itself as an apparent lack of coherence on the pitch.

Perhaps my ticket app not working in the turnstile was the clue that what I was about to witness needed a health warning.
Unfortunately Knoyle went off injured within 10 minutes, and with MSH injured again, Richardson out and Crankshaw moved on, there was no obvious substitution. Collar has played over on the right but it was ultimately Sarcevic that came on and Wright moved to RB in back 4.
Even if he gives off exhausted vibes after any press, Powell did set the tone well with his off-the-ball work in the opening half hour. He ended the game with most tackles for us and the crowd took to it. His determined drive towards the penalty box ultimately led to Barry's goal, which was a wonderful strike to the far top corner.
Our second came from Madden timing a deft ball behind the defence for Sarcevic's run, and his chip over the 'keeper was exquisite. Two finishes of the highest calibre. What a wonderful day at a sunny EP this was going to be.
But wait, why have a wonderful day when we can bring misery on ourselves instead?!
Soon we were messing about with it in areas you just can't mess about in. Sorry, we're not Brazil and we've not got many points either. Can we have the attitude to absolutely get at 'em and be ruthless while we're on top on the game, please? Touray, who sadly continues to look like downgrade on Hussey, lost it more than once in this spell and then this type of misplaced overplaying really cost us. Instead of clearing a corner, Madden tried flicking it over someone on the edge of the area. With the ball turned over they worked it to their right, crossed and it was 2-1.
Into the 2nd half and Touray gave away a foul. Unfortunately, both Touray and Knoyle are pretty small and in central area defending do look like they're having to wrestle, making it quite easy for the refs to think they're fouling. A simple FK routine and ball in and boom, 2-2.
It'll probably go pretty unnoticed but I thought it was actually something that did impact us negatively. We won a foul and their lad left his foot blocking the ball from being taken quickly. In the big scheme of things, it was a non-event. In rushed Powell, who wasn't that near and he forcefully 'took the FK' knowing he would be making contact with their guy. Cue an argument where another of theirs gets in his face, and we lose even more focus. Madden is then in a minute's nonsense with the same player (while play is going on) and it just looked like we had absolutely lost our discipline of mind.
The crowd were on the players' backs and hesitantancy started to kick in. Slow balls to Wright (remember we're narrow and no-one is upfield on the right) left him losing the ball trying to play off his left. Croasdale played a mishit pass straight after.
Cue subbing off Wright and Croasdale for the 2 youngsters who have just arrived. I had warned Mini-Herm on the walk to EP that I just hope we don't introduce kids in a bad atmosphere because many older pros shrink into their shirts so Lord help a kid who hasn't played men's football. We shared a look as Croasdale, seemingly uninjured, jogged off for the substituion and Rydel went to RB.
Sadly Cotterill was soon dwelling on the ball and getting dispossed and then he gave away a bizarre corner within 2 minutes of coming on thriugh an overzealous block-tackle type thing when facing his own net. Sadly the opponent wasn't tackling so it looked like he had well and truly John Smithed ('ave it) it for no reason. And, you guessed it, a goal came from the corner. Painful stuff.
But, good for him, Cotterill didn't hide. He played a nice ball over the top of their defence and Olaofe ran onto it, took a touch and shot home from a closing angle.
Overall, a very odd mix of some really good stuff, bad luck (Knoyle injury), decisions which highlighted the recruitment (2 kids coming on in a really terrible scenario for them... but also was poor from DC unless absolutely necessary) and fragility of mindset to not deal with game/focus/communicate better.
The CE chanted support for DC but, unfortunately, it did feel poor from the team (including him) today. A special mention to Sarcevic who, I thought, was fantastic in both his football but his mental strength out there today. Others went missing or started losing focus but he, as someone returning from injury and getting subbed on far earlier than he would have expected, was bang on, I thought.

They were a very poor team and we should have punished them more than we did. Very poor defending cost us their goals. Some glimpses of good football and the 2 youngsters may develop further. Pond seemed to swim in the sink or swim scenario, Cotterill appeared nervous but settled down and got the assist. Tanto did well. Barry played well although a couple of his shots landed on or around Stockport railway station. Powell was much better. Agree Sarc seems to be getting his form back. The positive side is we scored 3, but ffs DC -sort out the defence ASAP as these stupid mistakes are costing us dearly. SW need to get a Director of psychology with 2 assistants appointed straight away. As Yorks said all is not good if DC spoke with Charlton. If he was 100 percent happy he wouldn't have bothered. It is rumoured it is too far down south for his family, so why did he talk with them? Curiosity or is he *ucked off with certain people at the club.
Oh and lastly yet another poor referee again.... where do they get them from? Bring back Rachel Welsh.

Feels like the beginning of the end for DC at EP. Not the first manager who has used substitutions to express his displeasure at the recruitment done by others. As I've said elsewhere, DC can blame this result on Wilson. Wilson can blame DC and the result is a lack of accountability, lack of competitive edge and mediocrity. We say we've had a slow start, but I'm not seeing anything to suggest things will improve any time soon.

DC having talks with Charlton may be him putting his card in the news agent’s window so to speak to let clubs closer to home know that he’s on the look out for a new job?

DC having talks with Charlton may be him putting his card in the news agent’s window so to speak to let clubs closer to home know that he’s on the look out for a new job? Agreed, mate. He clearly wants away, otherwise why talk to a club that was that far away in the first place? I think you're right, mate - it was a statement of intent as much as it was anything else. I don't think DC wants to be here, and having to work under that narcissistic bluff merchant I can't say I blame him.

To correct something I said above... although it looked from where we were like Madden tried flicking on the edge of the area in the lead up to their first, I see from the footage I was mistaken - he attempted to clear properly. My mistake.
