Good afternoon one and all.
I am a 3rd Year University student at MMU working on a dissertation-type project around football with an overarching theme of looking at why people are so passionate in their support of their local team versus gloryhunting.
I am a local lad so have chosen to base this around Stockport County.
I would love to hear some of your favourite stories around supporting the club, any standout away days or favourite matches and with permission if I could include this in the writeup with a name (happy to recieve via private message).
I am also doing a seperate piece on how the ownership situation has turned around so if you could provide thoughts on that too that would be great.
Looking forward to hearing your replies and happy to answer any questions if so.
Cheers
James

Hi James - hopefully you'll get a good response to this. I myself will put together some thoughts, but you may have to bear with me while travel to and from Gillingham and Carlisle occupies the next few days! We on this forum, back in our non-league days, actually published a couple of books on 'County Heaven Anecdotes of Sport' [ CHAOS 1 and 2], and all the material for those is preserved here at countyheaven.freeforums.net/board/40/indices-archive - if you want to check out the relevant threads as a starting point. CHAOS, Week L contains one of my most memorable away-days, when I found myself having to catch a Lincoln woman's pet ferret en route to watching County at Sincil Bank... Hope this helps as an interim reply. Good luck!

Welcome to C.Heaven James.
My thoughts are the same as H in Macc. Plenty of stories we have all shared in CHAOS 1 and 2. I am sure everyone will be happy for you to re-use our "rainbow" tinted memories.
The County passion is one one of hope above expectation. Hopefully we have a turned a corner in our fortunes, but after 60 years of undying support I know that disaster is always around the next bend.
Good luck with the project.
Steve
