So sad, and incredibly shocked, to learn of his passing this evening after a short illness. Aged only 63, he has been taken far too soon: www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-64029430He did plenty of other good musical deeds later on, of course, but his fronting of The Specials felt especially important while I was growing up and embracing the ska revival. RIP, Terry.

What the f***?!
This is devastating news. I didn't even know he was ill, Jesus Christ this has hit me like a train.
Hero doesn't even come close to describing what this man is (or was) to me, and neither does gutted come close to describing what I felt when I saw this.
Devastating.
Reunited with Brad now, mate, I'm so bloody shocked at this.
RIP, Terry.

One of his lesser known projects, Maccy. 'Vegas' with Eurythmics' Dave Stewart.
The last time I was hit this hard by a famous passing it was when Rik Mayall died, and I still can't believe he's gone. This is on the same level, as both are massive heroes of mine, not just growing up but still are today.
What makes it worse is that I was actually talking about Rik in work last night about how hard his passing hit, then just a few hours later I find out that Terry has gone - I don't care if I'm repeating myself, this news is gutting.

Always loved, in a bitter-sweet way, this classic break-up number (well, it was once for me - way back when...) from his post-Specials portfolio:

One of the comments on that song said that if Terry was involved in a track it was always worth checking out. I think it's fairer to say that, back in the day, if it was a good track it was always worth checking if Terry was involved.
Great tune, Maccy.

An excellent choice from an excellent album, Maccy.
Here's another gem, with a few cameos at the end including Chas, Chrissy Boy and Bedders from Madness, Bananarama, Kid Jensen and Alexei Sayle to name a few:
I have to say that I'm still really smarting from his passing, as he's been a massive hero to me since I was a kid.

I've been meaning to get something done to mark Terry's passing and I've finally got around to it. I took an image from the internet and altered it to make it look like it's made up of checkers. Then I adapted the 2 Tone logo to give it a 'gone to soon' sentiment. Original image: My version: I'm either going to get it printed and framed, or I'm going to adapt it and have it printed on a custom slipmat for my turntable - not to play my vinyl on as they're not good for that, but as a custom cover for the platter when the turntable is not in use. Just thought I'd share it here.
