Macclesfield Town's game against Aldershot this Saturday will be free admission to all fans. I wonder what the motive is behind this and financially liable.

Home team keeps the gate receipts in the Conference - so it wont affect Aldershot's costs - maybe they are hoping for a bumper sale of pies and Bovril

They'll probably have a donations bucket of two.

Bizarre idea but might be worth going down just to see some free footy!

Well, I shall be stuck in the locality, so may well pop along the road for this.
Will be good to see how the several ex-Hatters at Macc are getting on, too...

With respect it smacks of desperation really. They will have to sell a lot of pies and pints to Pay the players wages not forgetting paying Liam as well

Probably the idea, more 4,000 spending a fiver will probably generate more than 1,200 spending a £12 or whatever entrance is

Will be interesting to see if it works. If so it would be truly revolutionary ....

The free entry put just under an additional thousand on the usual gate at Macc. I imagine that the powers-that-be at Moss Rose will have been hoping for more.
There were collection buckets inside the ground, and practically everyone dropped cash - notes, as well as loose change - into them. The catering outlets had long queues before kick-off and at half-time, while, following the end of the match, a good number could seen snaking their way to meet the players at the Club Bar.
It will be interesting to hear in due course how the Club has fared financially, as a result of today's initiative. And of how many turn up at The Moss Rose to watch Forest Green on Tuesday...

It depends what gets written on the accounts for the day.
Or whether there's a new bank account in Macc for "Rosie 47".
