Latest on this massive tie. Winner to play either Switzerland or Kazakhstan in the semis.
Best of 5 matches. 4 singles and 1 doubles. Played on clay next to the Bay of Naples beach so conditions have been wet and windy. Playing on clay.
James Ward lost last night to Fabio Fognini in a 4 setter, but put up a decent fight 6-4, 2-6, 6-4, 6-1.
Murrays singles match against Andreas Seppi was played last night and had to be continued this morning due to bad light. Murray cruised to a 6-4, 7-5, 6-3 win and then went on to play the doubles match with Colin Fleming against Fabio Fognini & Simone Bolelli. the match lasted 3 hours after the Italians came back intk the match winning the 3rd set. the final score was 6-4, 6-2, 3-6, 7-5 .
This put Team GB in a 2-1 lead. On paper it looks like GB will make the finals ...
Tomorrow morning Murray plays Fognini to hopefully win and put us through to the semis.
should Murray lose (god forbid) Ward will play Seppi. lets hope it doesn't go down to the wire...
The Kazaks are 2-1 up after the 'Fed' and wrawrinka lost their doubles match ...

Murray needs to step up a gear or is going to get beaten.

2-0 sets down now. Murray needs to play his get out if jail card pretty soon. Just don't see him getting back into this match at all.

Straight sets loss by Murray probably down to him being knackered and a very poor first serve percentage. Having said that fognini played some excellent tennis.
James Ward 161 v Seppi 34
James Ward will need to pull off a giant killing here or it's curtains

All over, sadly.
Thread-title amended accordingly.
Bad luck, Team GB.
