Morning everyone.
As mentioned briefly on the thread announcing our first ever Yearbook the other day, I will this time be offering a small discount on the price for anyone willing to pre-order so as to help me cover the printing costs. An 'early-bird' offer if you will.
There are a number of options for anyone wanting to buy a copy.
The book, when it is released (hopefully by the end of May), will cost £5.99. For anyone willing to pre-order and pay up front, it will be a fiver. It doesn't sound like much of a saving I know, but I'm trying to make as much as we can for KidsCan who, I know you will all agree, are a fantastic charity. I also have no intention of hiding the printing costs, which will work out at around £4.20 per copy, so you'll see why I can't sell it any cheaper.
You do, of course, have the option of paying more should you so wish, and naturally anything in addition will go into the charity pot.
If you would then like to wait until the start of next season (or perhaps pre-season) to collect it from me at a game, that is all you need to pay. Take your yearbook, enjoy it, and thank you for your custom!
If, however, you live some distance away, or don't attend EP regularly for some other reason, OR you cannot wait to get your grubby little hands on a copy, postage and packaging will be £2.00 and I will of course start posting them as soon as I take delivery from the printers so, again, you should receive it end of May or early June. I'll keep everyone updated with progress nearer the time.
If you're happy enough to wait until it goes on sale and pay the extra 99p, I don't need to hear from you at this stage but thanks all the same.
If, however, you would like to pre-order for the reduced price of £5 (plus any postage and packaging), please send me a PM and we can organise payment, be it by cheque or electronic transfer.
Alternatively, I will be at the last game of the season against Harrogate, and I'm happy to meet up with anyone and take payment then.
The 'early-bird' discount price is valid until that last game of the season however. Once the season is over, the price is £5.99. So you have just under a month to decide!
"But what's in it?" I hear you cry. Basically, I have spent some time trawling through the entire season (which took considerably longer on the old Yuku forum until December when things got decidedly easier!) to pick out the best bits of our fantastic forum. For obvious reasons, I cannot include everything. The Yearbook, as you would expect is broken down into each month of the season from July's pre-season to April's conclusion. In each month, every fixture is included with the corresponding winning limerick and (if it was a home game) the programme article accompanying it. I've picked out what have generally been received as the best jokes, the most irrational dislikes, the most popular threads and features such as The Italian Job etc. I've also thrown in some old quizzes for people to have a go at.
I've unfortunately not been able to include each match report, as they would take the book to well over 200 pages and I'd be having to charge more like £8 - £9. Plus, some matches have seen more than one report, and I don't want to upset anyone by omitting their work! I really hope people will appreciate that I've tried to cram as much as I can into the book whilst keeping the price reasonable. If you feel a wonderful thread, joke, etc. has been missed out, I'm really sorry but hopefully I can justify why it wasn't included to anyone who wants to query it!
I am going to try and PM every Heavener whose material has been used in the book (even if it's just a one line joke) to make sure they are happy for me to do so before I prepare the final draft for print. This should be within the next few days. For obvious reasons, the humour in the book is a little more adult in places than CHAOS was (although with less swearing funnily enough), so please bear that in mind when considering a copy for your gran.
You have, of course, already now seen the front cover (which is excellent) but for anyone wondering, the book will be very much like CHAOS - A5 with a colour cover and then black and white throughout. As I said before, it's going to be the same sort of length too - around 120-130 pages depending on how April goes! It will, however, have a wiro-bind (like a spiral notebook) as this was slightly cheaper so that I could bring the price down from CHAOS' £6.99. I also felt that gave it more of a Yearbook feel.
Lastly, I'm only printing 50 copies (on the basis we have around 50 members and some will buy more than one copy, some not at all, so it should hopefully balance out). It is very unlikely we'll do another print-run, so they will be something of a limited edition! Also, the club shop, for reasons which will soon become clear, will NOT be stocking it. You will only be able to get a copy via me (or second hand from another Heavener!)
Sorry to waffle on. Please PM me by the last game of the season if you would like to pre-order, ask any questions, or arrange to meet me prior to / at the Harrogate match. Please do buy a copy if you can. Even if you hate it, you've given some money to charity!
Thanks
Sandy
