Good points, Gazza. In the summer, the Aussies were poor. England were poor +1 and no better than that. The difference is that the Aussies reacted and changed their mindset. England congratulated themselves and then went on holiday - and that includes Giles, which is why we can't appoint him.
We need a straight-talking, no nonsense coach who will put some of these public school boys back in their place and remind them that they deserve diddly unless they put the hard graft in. Step forward Mr Moody.

Giles, Moores and surprisingly, Trevor Bayliss are the front runners. The latter would be an interesting appointment. He'd certainly kick some a****. Can't see Downton & Collier being brave in their decision and do anything other than opt for Giles which in my view, would be a wrong one. We shall see.

An Aussie Coach to help regain the Ashes, now that would be good!

The contrast between the mens and womens team is pretty stark. England men are on the decline, whereas England women are on the up.
They on course to beat SA to each the T20 final and look good to win the tournament.
I really get the sense that the England women players are genuinely excited about their cricket and really understand the priviledge of representing their country. Can't say the same is evident in the men's team at the moment.

I suppose the trouble with rising to the top is the only way is down.

Bayliss would have put the cat amongst the pigeons, a risk the Selectors were not bold enough to make.
Giles blew his chances with England's recent awful displays.
With KP kicked out the door, Moores was then able to enter through the very same door.
He's back, it's a safe option and time will tell if it's a correct one.
Doubt he'll get a 'good 'luck' card from KP.

Rubbish decision.
We've got Bob Hope of winning the Ashes.
Bah.
