Halifax Town are promotion rivals so it makes absolutely no sense to send Newby there. Newby has pace and that's what we need so he should have been given a chance. If they can see his potential then why cant County? Another Bennet and another one bites the dust under Rusk.
Anyone watched the latest pre-match video offering? Thoughts?
- They seriously need to watch the JG videos.

Anyone watched the latest pre-match video offering? Thoughts? I did watch this week's yesterday as I was bored. The interviewer, Liam Richardson brings up formations with Rusk, in what looks to me like a desperate attempt to make the interview seem more insightful, but it's mainly just the same old waffle as always. Your average FIFA gamer can talk formations until the cows come home. What we need is some enlightening input from the manager on why a certain formation favours or favoured another, but it never happens. They could copy and paste the same interview each week and save themselves a s**t load of their time, and ours.

Totally agree with Ceefer. In fact I have mentioned the same on the Wrexham thread. I'm a big fan of Newby & cannot understand why he's not been featuring in recent matches. We prise him away from Chorley with big ideas & promises then let him down. It's initially only a month's loan but why give another team the opportunity to gain from his experience which happened with Bennett. This Management team don't seem to be able to get the best out of these players that's why I was surprised to see such an outstanding performance from Crankshaw on his first match.

Aero, perhaps they haven't had time to coach it out of him yet ?

Being of the Danny Bergara and Dave Jones vintage (with a smattering of Gary Megson era) I have to agree with the puzzlement about the size and composition of the squad and the players out on loan - I'd have expected Rusk to have got his squad sorted by now and have a pretty settled core. One of the real strengths for me of that Dave Jones side was that it was pretty settled, the only real changes being mostly on the wings. What strikes me though, as a virtual hatter (I haven't been down EP for almost 20 years, "watching" on T'Internet) is that there are plenty of players at EP who should every effective at this level and (fingers crossed) the next level up. The start to this season has had me thinking back to 1996/7 when after 6 games County had 0 wins, 3 draws and 3 defeats and were in the wrong part of the table and not playing very well. I remember thinking back then though that there's a big difference between a bad side and a side playing badly - a side playing badly can start to come together and play to its potential, a bad side ca only really go one way. So Dave Jones got the senior pro's into his office and had a pretty frank discussion and blow me down look what a season that turned out to be. I want to believe that the same is true this season especially once Quigley is available and fit and once the team has worked out how best to play together and let the opposition worry about how to play us rather than chopping and changing too much. Ah well, fingers crossed as they say.

Ah well, fingers crossed as they say. Hi, mate, welcome aboard. That's a very fair post. Given the quality of players we have, they should indeed be able to work out for themselves how to make it work, so the manager shouldn't really have that much of a job on his hands in getting the best out of them. Two wins from two, albeit with not the most convincing performances, but these wins will surely help the players to kick on.

One thing for certain the players need to live up to their reputations and play as a team and not individuals.
It will be interesting to see how the team evolves with Crankshaw, and Quigley's threat upfield.
On paper and wages we should be top by now....if only he said........

I watched a short thing on You Tube where a Bradford fan was saying that Crankshaw was nothing special but better than someone at Bradford who was being picked regularly, That said Crankshaw certainly seemed to have a good debut although the same was true of Peter Duffield but in the end he fizzled out a bit. Fingers crossed though County seem to have a lot of pace in the squad and goals should start to flow although the verbals between Rooney and Hogan that were commented on on Strawberry a week or two ago suggest that the squad still need to work out who is the leader (not always the Captain necessarily). I'm reminded though of how often a certain former County player and manager used to blame everyone around him when he made a mistake - looking at you St Jim of Gannon.... but that squad seemed to find a way to co-exist, and this one needs to do the same. Hogan seems to be a bit shaky and error prone at the moment, that might go away with time so long as the squad settles down and finds a way to play together. I think it was Steve Jones of the Sex Pistols who said if you're picking a football team you don't just pick the people you like, you pick the best players, even if you don't get along with them. Quite right too. PS apparently I'm Jon Nolan's Boot Boy - no offence to him but I'd rather be Alan Finlay's Headband...

He was very active on the sideline yesterday, and a neutral may have thought he was actually our manager! Family first and, beyond that, if we're not right fit then better to make the decision. Wish him well. Southend, where he played, still need a manager if he's wanting such a role.

“Nothing will give me more pleasure than to be sitting in the Cheadle End (next to the bloke with the drum) for the last game of the season, to watch the lads winning promotion to League Two.”
Which season? 2027/28?
