Time's up and (as most of you already know), our final player is Sean Newton.
As is so often the case in the final week of one of my quizzes, there were quite a few of you scoring full marks, but with current leader Hermann not being one of them, it means the top of the table is now tighter than an otter's pocket:
1= Bradninch 16 Hermann 16 Macc 16 4= Archie 14 BBLW 14 6. Gazz 13 7. Epworth 11 8. Ceefer 4
So, it looks like it's all coming down to the bonus points....

As ever, there were a couple of clues in the opening post at the start of Week 1:
"Apologies there hasn’t been a quiz for a few weeks, but if there’s one benefit to working from HOME, it’s that I have plenty of spare time to write a new one.
Quiz 117 will run for four weeks and you will be trying to guess footballers who have, at some point in their careers, played for County. I am confident you will have heard of all four former Hatters, so there’s no random names thrown in just to make the link work (it’s actually quite a straight-forward link, to be honest, so I haven’t gone to TOWN as much as perhaps normally do!)."
And, where is my home town? Yes, if you rearrange the initials of our four players, it spells out Sandbach!
So, did one of our current top 3 get the link first in order to claim the trophy?....

Maccy did!
Yes, with the full ten bonus points, it's Macc who claims the win, with Archie and Bradninch sharing silver just behind him.
Epworth was second with the link, propelling him to within a couple of points of a podium finish.
Here are the final scores:
1. Macc 26 2= Archie 22 Bradninch 22 4= BBLW 21 Hermann 21 6. Epworth 20 7. Gazz 13 8. Ceefer 4
Congrats to Macc on a fine win, and well done to the chasing pack for pushing him to the final day.
There will now be a break in quiz land, as I haven't written the next one yet, and I'm away the week after next anyway, but we'll be back before you know it!
Thanks for taking part and hope you all enjoyed it.
Sandy

Excellent performance, Maccy. Again! Congratulations. Also well done Archie as we share second place. Nearly four players claiming Silver this time, so close. Thanks to Sandy for another testing quiz - enjoy a well earned break, starting tomorrow when, hopefully, you'll be cheering an impressive win and three points.

Oh, wow - that's a nice way to end the week... Really closely-fought tussle there - so well done everyone! And thanks, as ever, to Sandy for keeping our grey matter well tested.

Well played Macca.
The penny didn't drop with me until I saw Sunday's programme notes. Too little too late.
Cheers Sandy, another teaser.
