My first County game was a Friday night match in September 1978, a 2-0 win v York City at home. According to the brilliant GoGoGo County website, it was Friday 15th September. with Stuart Lee scoring both goals.
I don't remember much about the game itself, as I was just chuffed to be out late with my Dad and not having to go to bed early. I was sat in the old Cheadle end.
The floodlights, the grown men all around me smoking, laughing, shouting and swearing - it was my first live football match and the 10 year-old me absolutely loved it!
Went to Edgeley Park that night still wanting my Dad to take me to a City game, but came away from it wanting him to take me to County again and nothing else!
