Lost to us, aged 82.
Model player, and a television natural. really sad news.
RIP, Saint.

Will forever remember him and ‘Greavsie’ as being associated with our rise under Danny

Very sad news.
As Duds said, him and Greavsie gave us quite a bit of exposure during the 90s, especially when we played on Friday night.
Okay, they were ripping Kev a little at first, but I like to think they warmed to us and the coverage became more genuine and their respect for us and, more importantly, Kev grew over time.
RIP, Saint.

Yes - spot on, Gazz-man. I think it evolved into a nice, affectionate thing over time.
When a great goalscorer from the past like Greavsie began referring to 'my mate, Big Kev', over footage of another couple of great goals (rather than a slip on the pitch) at EP, it became something of a badge of honour. Fair play.

Never post when you've just woken up! The end of that post of mine was a mess, I have no idea what happened there.
Duly edited!

When a great goalscorer from the past like Greavsie began referring to 'my mate, Big Kev', over footage of another couple of great goals (rather than a slip on the pitch) at EP, it became something of a badge of honour. My Grandad was a quality player in his youth by all accounts and was on the verge of signing for one of the Dundee clubs while he was based at Rosyth, but his ship was sent to war and he spent four years at sea during WW2 and that was that. Anyway, he really knew his football and he always said Greavsie was the greatest of them all. He saw the likes of Finney, Matthews, Lofthouse, Mortensen and Shackleton at their best, so there can be no higher praise than that for Kev, in my opinion.
