Full marks this week go to five of you: Macc, Archie, Bradninch, Lennie and Gazz, which means that Archie maintains his comfortable five-point lead at the top:

Well, I often say that I've left a clue to the link in the opening post of each quiz, and I couldn't have made this one any clearer - since it was in the very first line, in capital letters!
Yes, you may recall (and, if not, you're welcome to go back and check) that, in Week 1, I opened the quiz by wishing you all a HAPPY NEW YEAR. I also mentioned later in that opening post that: "I could give you an initial clue, but I think I’ll leave you guessing for now! Maybe I’ll phrase it into the quiz later on…."
It goes without saying, therefore (but I'll say it anyway), if you arrange the initials of our seven players it - somewhat belatedly, now that we're approaching March - wishes you all a HAPPY NEW YEAR!
No surprises here, but Archie was the first to guess the link for the maximum 10 bonus points, so he's our thoroughly deserving winner, but who will be claiming silver and bronze?

In one of the closest finishes we've had (particularly after such a long quiz), it's Lennie who bags silver and Bradninch sneaks in to claim bronze, with Macc and Gazz narrowly missing out on a podium finish.
After Archie, Lennie was obviously next to guess the link, followed by Gazz, then Bradninch, then Macc.
Well done to Archie on a fine performance and victory.
Thanks everyone for taking part. I haven't written our next quiz yet, but will hopefully be back soon enough.

Cheers guys. I think I got the link early because I'd spent quite a lot of time in the previous quiz looking for the traditional Christmas connection. Once you know that you're looking at 2 single name players and 2 with a 'Y' initial, a long list of candidates becomes much shorter.
As always, thanks to Sandy for keeping the little grey cells functioning in such an entertaining manner.
