Apparently we have Guiesley or Chorley at home on 19th December in the second round proper.
They play off next Tuesday.
Chance for the bench squad to have a meaningful game perhaps ?

Totally agree, Lennie.
We really don't want to be risking burnout with any of our first team players, so this would be the perfect opportunity to be giving some fringe and development players the chance to shine.

Unless it's Chorley when we should turn out the big boys and give them a good spanking !!!

Despite the fact that Chorley's keeper was our primary school's net minder some 16-17 years ago !!

My MOTM? The referee, because without that ridiculous red card we'd have probably lost that today.
I told Sandy earlier, if I was a Guiseley fan I'd be fuming right now.

Guiseley came to frustrate and, fair play, they pulled it off excellently - so much so that it was the sending off which ultimately changed the game in our favour.
Aside from some decent set play deliveries (MSH), there was little threat from us in the first half. Although frustrating to watch, this was somewhat expected. Any side that sets up as Guiseley did will make it hard for us and we see this at all levels when a side gets everyone behind the ball. Add in the lack of relationships on the pitch and the the lack of game time of several players (likely to impact tempo) and you've just got to make sure you don't concede first. Ah.
The game-changing moment came when Reid found himself central and more 'on the shoulder' - the defender brought him down, conceding the penalty and sent off for making no attempt to play the ball. While he went on to miss the spot kick, Reid did react well to the setback and his two goals settled matters - though Rooney's goal was nicely finished, of course.

Agreed, Gazz - it was a harsh red. A penalty was the right decision, but making 'double jeopardy' out of it with a red took the wind from Guiseley's sails and changed the game. I think that the quality of our bench would still ultimately have got us over the line - but we had already benefitted from a huge slice of good fortune before Jim sent on the subs.

Great to see Gilmour and MSH in the side and get a decent run out. They both have a lot to offer to the side. Also good to see Reid being the poacher and despite the penalty slotting in a second. This will give JG a dilemma in who to pick for the next game.

Fourth Round draw just made, and there is another crack at Notts for us on 16th January - albeit at EP this time...
