I think he also played for Brighton in that "...and Smith must score..." 1983 FA Cup Final, unless I'm mistaken?

He did, Gazz-man. Played well, too.
As a young Macc, I saw him turn out for the Albion in his early days there.

saw him on something relatively recently and would never have thought he might be ill. it took him coming on as sub at anfield in 1984 for the league cup holders, league champions and european cup holders to put county out of the league cup that season with two against us in extra time after 180 deadlocked minutes.
good piece on the bbc website that. some really good tributes. RIP.
