Another October Saturday, another home game!
Good afternoon from EP, and a warm welcome to Gloucester City - one of those teams for whom, geographically speaking, this term’s Skrill North membership-coverage is stretching it a bit! That said, being pitted against City does provide us with the prospect of a rather nice Springtime away-trip to The Cotswolds. Mrs Macc has already booked herself in for that fixture - followed, I fear, by tea and buns at Jilly Cooper’s...
Any chance that there might have been of playing at home every weekend this month has, of course, disappeared following County’s FA Cup exit seven days ago. Whilst it was without doubt disappointing to be knocked out by a lower-ranked side, Rushall, it has to be said, were good value for their win, and I imagine that a good many of us will hope that they may now go on to progress beyond the Qualifying Rounds.
One thing we shall all be definitely hoping is that the performance against The Pics turns out to have been just a temporary blip, which we can forget about today with a resumption of our improving League form. With only three points separating County from this afternoon’s visitors, it promises to be another tight contest - so, let’s recreate the atmosphere we generated in support of the team when hosting another ‘-rcester’ outfit two weeks back... and, hopefully, cheer the lads on to a similar result.
What’s occurring, Sandy?

Well, truth be told Maccy, I’m trying my level best not to make a joke about Jilly Cooper’s buns…. but, ever the professional, I shall refrain from cheap innuendo and save that for County Heaven.
Where, it has to be said, we haven’t let Saturday’s result dampen our spirits. Sure, everyone was disappointed to leave the FA Cup prematurely (or, if we’re being technical about it, before it’s actually begun), but it’s surprising how much having a rant about something else can make you feel better. And that’s precisely what our ‘Irrational dislikes’ thread is for - it’s like our version of Room 101. Entering it recently have been Grand Designs, Lorraine Kelly, Tesco in Heaton Chapel, Jeremy Clarkson (irrational?) and... believe it or not, the Samsung Galaxy S4. No prizes for guessing who’s been having problems with his phone again.....!
Lennie has somehow managed to win his own Limerick competition (although, before allegations of FIFA-like corruption* are thrust his way, I should point out that Downy was guest judge for the week) and at the time of going to press Market Harborough is leading the prediction league, closely followed by yours truly.
Lastly, I make no apologies for another shameless plug for our book “C.H.A.O.S.”, which is selling out rapidly so, if you do want a copy in time for Christmas, send me an e-mail to sandbachhatter@hotmail.co.uk asap. Alternatively, Chris Jolley has kindly agreed to stock a few copies in the club shop so you can always pop along after the match and pick one up there. If you have bought a copy and like it, we’d love to hear from you. If you don’t like it, keep your opinions to yourself, no one cares what you think anyway.
