Nothing beats the Logan's Run 'Sandman' gun, and there's a guy who makes 100% accurate 'working' prop replicas, I want one of these, but they are made by a guy in the US and cost around $800!:

this is the blake's 7 one i liked, from the last two series. seeing it again it looks a bit of a rip-off of han solo's pistol. dunno if you've seen it, but this site has loads of pics from the model-maker who worked on space 1999, blake's 7, thunderbirds and various others. here's a particularly ridiculous example:

Is the guy Martin Bower or Brian Johnson? Both of whom are supremely talented model makers and special effects people, the latter went on to work on Alien and one of the Star Wars movies (the original ones, not the CGI-ridden crap of the 'later' three). Those guys are geniuses. Martin Bower still makes replicas to order, and there's a guy called David Sisson who also makes replicas to order, and he actually got hold of, and restored one of the original Space:1999 44" Eagle props. davidsissonmodels.co.uk/eagle1.htmHe did a stunning job, and it's a fantastic insight into how these models went together, and there's not a Power Mac in sight!

the link is to martin bower's site. he's not a web-site builder, but the models are pretty cool! you'd need a pretty big mantelpiece for the eagle model above!

just watched the first two episodes of blake's 7 on youtube. very stagey and very creaky looking. loved it when i was a kid though, particularly the title sequence and the liberator.

I bet it was miles more entertaining than this England game. (I'm talking about the football, not the cricket - which we are in danger of winning!)

Imagine the cost if they really did make models that big! Martin Bower is a top drawer prop builder, he worked with Johnson on a lot of the Gerry Anderson stuff. In fact all those guys who worked on Johnson's team were incredibly talented, way ahead of their time.

yeah, it shows quite a lot of decent sized models on the site - not in the realms of the eagle, but a couple of feet long to allow for plenty of detail.
