Well lads I thought I would introduce myself as I suppose some of you are wondering how and why is an Irishman supporting Stockport county.
I was born in Stockport but moved to Ireland as a child as my mam's Irish,my dad's Stockport through and through and would take me to watch county every home game for a few seasons.
My fondest memories of watching county is the 1989/90 season when we made the playoffs under Danny Bergara only to get stuffed by Chesterfield 4 nil away and I think 2 nil at home,I was at both games and I roared crying on the way home lol..
I moved to Ireland in 1990 and county actually started doing well then ! Even friends over here started to look out for county's results..even if I meet past friends they always ask me how's county doing.
Fingers crossed for this season,it's in our own hands now!

Great to have you on board, mate! I was at those Chesterfield games myself, mate, and you are correct on both scorelines. The only highlight of the second leg was when, during the pre-match warm-up, someone leathered a ball straight into the back of the head of a Chesterfield photographer! It's childish, I know, but it cracked me up at the time!

One thing I remember from back then was whoever the away team was at half time they would walk around the pitch with what looked like a bedspread and county fans would throw loose change and copper's in it..it was like missiles flying down over your head !!

My wife is from Rathdrum, not too far away from Aughrim,we are looking to move back up there in the not too distant future.

My mother used to live out in Mayo and was born in Athlone.
