Evening!
New to the forum and the club!
So confession time, I'm a PNE supporter exiled in Manchester. Although I love my club, since I've been living in MCR for a few years now I've struggled to make as many games as I would like. The 60 mile round trip to Deepdale, the cost of a watching Championship club along with work commitments make it diffcult to get my footy fix so I've been looking for non league club to scratch that itch.
I've settled on County due to the clubs history, the familiarity of league opponents (lots of local teams), the fact I saw North End play County a few years back in the league Cup and that I didn't like the looks of FC United (Man U connection) or Salford City (seems like they are buying their way to the EFL).
Also saw the result against Yeovil and was impressed with relationship between the fans and player after the whistle.
So looking for a few answers to be honest, and be gentle 😂 -
1) what's the fan's pub closet to ground? 2) stand out players in the squad 3) season review so far 4) season expectations
Looking forward to my first game!
Ta'ra!

Hi James. Welcome to the club.
I live in Blackpool so you are lucky that I am talking to a kn*b Ender !!!
Enjoy the forum, join in the banter and have a go at the competitions we have. They are the only thing that have got us through the last 10 years or so.

welcome james.
there are a few pubs near the ground, but you probably want the armoury on the roundabout (by train or car you'll see it - it's just up the hill from the station back entrance), the sir robert (bobby) peel on castle street or the royal oak at the bottom of castle street. all within five minutes of edgeley park.
i won't give you my season's review because i gave up on the season in september. we have picked up recently though and beat the then league leaders (chorley) at home a couple of weeks ago.
as for players, over the previous couple of years we've had one forward in crazy form each season outshining the rest, but this season it feels like more of a collective effort.
it's all a little bit painful getting excited about possibly playing an -ooh- league one/two side we've played a million times before, and having to win another round before the draw could give us the mighty lilywhites. can remember seeing us win at deepdale in the cup once. brett angell for us, i believe.
anyway, welcome.

Welcome to the board James. The team is gelling and the confidence is growing now so I've personally big expectations from this season and next. With a FA Cup run the players are in the shop window so the problem may be keeping the team together. Promotion this or next season. Players - Nyal Bell, Frank Mulhearn, Matty Warburton, Scott Duxbury, Adam Thomas, recent signing Elliot Osborne, Jordan Keane, Ash Palmer, Sam Minivan, Sam Walker etc - all good players and improving under Jims direction. I think once all the players buy into Jim's way of playing and tactics and see them working the penny drops...there's a massive difference between Sam Walker last season and this. Enjoy your first game and soak up the atmosphere.
And it's never too late to join in the Prediction League.

Welcome to the forum and to Stockport County FC!
A super streak of wins near the end of last season saw us push up into the play-off places (finishing 5th). Unlike previous seasons, the likes of Fylde, Salford and Harrogate have moved out of the league and 2 of the 3 full-time sides aren't exactly in a great place (Southport and York). That, along with the players and manager we have, makes me feel that we should be competing towards the top of the league. Positions 2 and 3 skip one of the play-off games and secure a home tie too. Hopefully everyone is aiming for auto-promotion though in what is a pretty open league.
