Final friendly alert for this Saturday! Let us hope that we can make it a Macc-nificent seventh one.
You know what to do...

Happy New Season everyone!
Good to have league opposition coming to EP! Or put another way, many congratulations to Macc for regaining League status - a wonderful achievement, particularly given the limited resources.
The last Macc friendly saw County put in an impressive first half (If I remember rightly) and went 1-0 up, but Macc changed things around and seemed fitter and finished stronger (and won 2-1?).
So pleased that Matty Warburton is still with County. He is a joy to watch and I was always rooting for him ever since the days he played at Maine Road FC and scored a ton of goals.
Advert time: 'Ye Olde Vic' (1, Chatham St, SK3 9ED) will be open for the first time this season at 12:30 am prior to tomorrow's game. Be good to see our regular County fans and maybe some new ones as well.
Enjoy the game.

Happy new season to you, too, djm. And good to see you back on Heaven!
Our last friendly against the Silkmen, this time last year, went a tad better than you remember, though. They did go in at half-time 2-1 up - but we blitzed 'em after the break to prevail 5-2! A repeat along those lines would be rather nice tomorrow...

Welcome back djm!
Should be a good test for our boys today... hopefully we're fit and firing and ready for the season to start next weekend. Hopefully in 12 months time we'll be getting ready to play the Milkmen in the league!

I went to the game today, it's the only game I've been to this pre-season, it was a very last minute decision given I was still at home at 2:30! Very glad I did though, in the first half Macc definitely tried to assert their dominance early and had the much better chances, some very good rearguard action from County kept them at bay until they scored a brilliant header from a corner and continued to push on, County's almost identical equaliser came a bit against the run of play but in the 2nd half we came out a different team and really took the game to Macc and could have easily won with just a bit more luck in front of goal.
Mulhearn didn't get much of a sniff in the first half but looked excellent in the 2nd half and hit the bar with a very good effort from distance.
Overall a decent showing from County against what I believe was more or less their first team.

First half Long, inaccurate balls to an isolated Mulhern (leading to instant turnover of the ball) and a peculiar midfield shape chasing shadows when out of possession.
Second half Not like the first half - yay! Everything became competitive, passing improved and Mulhern had some support.
Special mention Minihan - good to see him back at it. When we had very little of the play in the first half, it was him turning Walker's hopeful pass into a corner through sheer determination. (Palmer duly headed home the resulting Walker corner.) When moved to RB, Minihan picked his head up and drove in-field with great energy, into the space Dimaio had intelligently created for him.
