sounds extremely promising. had been wondering when AL's conveyor belt would creak into action. only trouble is, while we're down in these dumps, it's even harder to hold onto any assets than it was in the football league.

I find it very strange that he has not been given his chance off the bench, particularly while Warburton has been injured. How many more goals would he be expected to score before making the first team squad? If the standard is so low that even a lad banging the goals in is miles below first team standard, then what is the point of having the Development Squad?

I’m glad that the development squad has managed to produce some potential. Can’t remember the last player to come through the ranks and become a first team regular?
I hope he doesn’t become another Adam le Fondre and we managed to get either some goals from him or a good few if we sell him.

I'm thinking they are blooding him in slowly to keep the confidence levels high. Introduce him too quickly to the first team and it could back fire. Also it will keep him working hard towards the first team 'proper' debut.

I think you are probably right there, Ceefs - remembering, in particular, how George West went from being a goal-scoring sensation for the Development Squad to a non-firing striker in the First Team.

Really pleased Czubik has signed a pro deal for us. I haven't seen him play but his numbers can't go unnoticed - it's what he deserves for having such a stellar season for the youth team.
Hopefully he can make the transition to senior football seamlessly and give Maccy some headaches over spelling in his match reports! Best brush up on your Polish... mate...
