We've increased the number of smilies in the database by removing one or two of the larger ones, making room for a few more smaller ones, we hope they come in handy. Cheers.

There is an issue with the smiley feature. Well, not so much an issue, just a slight glitch. When placing a smiley at the end of your post or sentence, don't put a space after the last word or full stop. I can explain better with the example below: If you don't put a space before a smiley it works fine, as proboards puts a space before and after all smiley codes Apologies for the inconvenience, as yet I don't know how to solve the issue permanently, but if you follow that guide you should be ok.

The above only works when using the 'Post Quick Reply' option for some reason. I'll keep searching for a proper solution.

Right, I think I've got it. When using any smiley, if it doesn't appear in your post when using the standard left click to select option , try using the drag and drop method. Apparently Proboards implemented this into the v5 platform for ease of use, how it makes it easier is beyond me.
Anyway, to use drag and drop for a smiley, simply left click and hold on the smiley you want, then drag it into your post to the spot where you want it to appear and release the left mouse button. Then close the Smiley list.
Hopefully that won't be too much of a pain to use, let me know if you have any problems.
Cheers.

Update: 'Drag and drop' method has issues when using the 'Post Quick Reply' option. Get your collective finger out, Proboards.

Update: When using the 'Reply', 'Edit' or 'Quote' options, smilies can only be added using drag and drop, I think the Proboards server update has changed this. The 'Post Quick Reply' toolbar is a third party plugin created by volunteers, so it is obviously not covered or maintained by Proboards. Indeed, when you create a new Proboards forum, the quick reply box has no editing features attached to it as the Proboards template does not include them, the plugin adds those features.
This explains why there are some conflicts regarding the adding of smillies when using the quick reply feature. So for ease of use regarding smilies, use the 'Reply' option to the right of the box, and not the 'Post quick reply'.
I hope this clears things up a little.
