Just watched the highlights, lots of chances for both teams, could've gone either way. Good to see County finishing strongly considering Nuneaton are full-time and would be expected to be fitter than our players.
It happens quite often at this level that there are games with chance after chance where nobody has the quality to put one away. Having said that, Amis's goal and Odejayi's miss show why we will still be in this division next season. Both become incredibly awkward-looking when they get a sight of goal. I agree that they both have some good attributes, but we need at least one centre forward who knows where the goal is. I would get rid of Odejayi and bring in someone with a track record of finishing his dinner. Amis might develop, but he needs a spell out of the spotlight: It reminds me of the way we kept playing Ormson through his bad spell when he was really young, and probably set back his development permanently. Give him a breather!

I think Jim Gannon's record suggests that things usually begin to happen during his second full season and I agree with JLC that we wont go up this time round. We are weak in a few areas imo. The full backs both like to get up the field but once there the quality of cross is frequently very poor. On more than one occasion Ball had opportunity to make a pass out wide but chose to delay, compressing the space he should have passed into by actually running with the ball into it and cutting all options off. We still look a bit suspect when opponents counter us at speed, usually after we've needlessly given the ball away. I'm still to be convinced by Cartwright and don't think that Duxbury's position is under too much threat and Lloyd excepted, we seem to lack a bit of pace throughout

good posts. i also agree on our prospects for this season. i said to my brother on the 'phone yesterday 'this season's done', which is a bit melodramatic in november; but we've already fallen off the pace and we're a side who has to be at the top of its game to go on a little run, whereas a number of sides seem to be picking up points remorselessly regardless of form.
one of the crucial parts of that is that they can get enough goals to get through games. we're reasonably tight at the back, but not that potent at the other end. we have one exceptional attacking player at this level, and that's not enough to get promoted. we need someone else who can be the match-winner in tight games - when we make a good chance, a player that will finish more often than not. i thought that would be john marsden, but so far he's been a long way short of last season's performances. it was notable against kidderminster the other week that we should have been a goal or two to the good before they took control of the game. unless we have an immense second wind, we're treading water again.

The one thing that most annoyed and disappointed me yesterday happened when K came on yesterday. The announcer did his best to pronounce his surname and made a hash of it. A passing 'County' fan (mid 50's) thinking he was funny said it would have been easier to say the 'N' word instead of the surname. I thought County fans were above this..seemingly not.

you could make a joke about an insular nuneatoner's inability to pronounce anything more demanding than 'smith' or 'jones', but it sounds like the comment was instead to reduce big kay. i sometimes get complacent that the bad old days have gone, so it's useful to have a reminder that there are still a number of pricks in our following. i would probably have given him an earful myself, and hope somebody did, but i totally understand that confrontation isn't for everybody.

Sadly I doubt these knuckle draggers ever went away. Coming out with that kind of thing became something to be ashamed of but such is the level of political discourse and comment from the national press these days that it seems that is no longer the case.

I thought County fans were above this..seemingly not. When I saw that absolute cock with the black 'Robertson's Jam' doll (I won't use its full name) in the Cheadle End v Macc a few years ago I knew that we still have some way to go before we can say we've well and truly stamped it out. Unfortunately, I don't think it'll be any time soon.

I'm as fickle as the next man, and am worried for the game on Saturday. Two defeats on the spin...... I've got to say I'm of the same frame of mind, binny, but my County glass hasn't been half full for a long time - I habitually expect the worst these days. I'll take a point away at Nuneaton Gazza.......happy Binny me :-) Especially as last nights result makes the point worth while, and an 'expected win' on Saturday too it has to be said.

Agreed, mate - that's a solid four points that I'd have happily taken before the weekend.

Nuneaton's manager, Kevin Wilson, has been sacked after 18 months in charge. They are currently 3 points above relegation in 18th.
