I think kids who spend all day and all night glued to their computers or consoles are more the fault of the parents/guardians than the console itself... Very good point, matey. However, I'm sure we're not in the business of making orphans of the kids by binning off their folks, so the box still has to go for me!

Erm, landslide. X-boxes take the title easily.
Our penultimate week starts on Sunday evening, with ceefer having his second go (having only had his first very recently).
See you all there.

i'm too late to vote, but can confirm to ceefer that you still have to bite down on something for mouth x-rays as i had one last month! it's hard plastic now though.
i don't like americanisms, so i'm having xerox; but hoover was in my personal lexicon from when i was little, so i must admit that it's a verb in and of itself for me.
i think it's a bit more complicated about x-boxes - i'd also throw in social media, tablets, computers, endless tv channels, and a societal/parental aversion to not knowing where there kids are. there were paedophiles about in the 1970's, and we had plenty of unsophisticated warnings about not accepting sweets from strangers, or offers to see puppies (not difficult, as i f***ing hate dogs anyway). despite that, we were gone, out of parental reach, when we were out unless we were playing football on the local park. if little johnny is upstairs running pedestrians over in GTA or saints row, then johnny's parents know where he is, and he's not coming to harm other than by way of inactivity, internet bullying, and casual acceptance of extreme violence.
like fudge, i've almost always had some sort of games system. in the early 80's it was a spectrum, and although i played it for thousands of hours, it didn't often get in the way of playing football or hanging about on swings at night. we were just always out - football after school, called in for tea, and then either more football or hanging or walking about after. i loved playing video games, but never at the expense of a round of 3-and-in or some firework/minor vandalism/creating noise nuisance related mischief. it's not as simple as the latest generation of machines, it's a mind set of and about children and young people. that's what's wrong, and to me, video games are just a convenient scapegoat - they're an activity that sedentary children love, but not the reason they're sedentary. parents are now made to feel like they're bad parents if they don't know where their children are. me, i always came home, so i think it worked out ok.

Sorry lads, I realised on Tuesday that I had forgotten to start Week Y off, decided to delay it a week, then forgot to tell you! It's been that kind of week.
My apologies - week Y will begin this weekend instead.
Sorry ceefer!
