Nearly at the end, and it's countyfan who has the unenviable task of suggesting three x-rated words for us to decide between:
X-Rays
Yes they are extremely helpful to all of us when needed but it's the whole process I find annoying. I've been there many a time through football injuries over the years but something that takes 5 minutes to do is a minimum of 4 hours of your life you wont get back! First of all you've got to sit in casualty with a load of people that are still drunk from the night before and have fallen over or been in a fight that are being all loud and aggressive to anyone that gets seen before them. Then 3 hours later you get called through to the x-ray department where you have to check in and wait in their own little waiting room. Finally you're called in and someone grabs your leg bends it into a more excruciating painful position than you're already in, hides behind a screen and presses a button. Done in 2 minutes! All you have to do now is wait another 30 minutes now for a doctor to become free to then tell you that it's a badly sprained ankle!!
Xerox Machines
This maybe more of a personal gripe as I used to work for the Korean national shipping line so had people from all over the world working in the offices over here but the American's don't half get on my wick!! Why they can't say the words "photocopy" or "photocopier" i'll never know!!
"who's left their xerox on the machine"?
"A what"?
"A xerox, someone's xeroxed and left it on the machine"
"Done what"?
"Put a piece of paper on the glass and made a copy"!
"Ohhh you mean someone's left their photocopies on the machine after photocopying something you stupid, annoying, fat American idiot, no offence Ron"!!!
I hate Americanisms full stop but when they are working for a company over here learn the English way of speaking please!
Xboxes
I'm using the X-box but probably mean all games consoles these days. When I was a lad we did this thing called "playing out"! We would ride our bikes, playing football, cricket, tennis and other sports. Play manhunt, paper chase and hide and seek all over the place. The only thing that stopped us doing all this was when it started raining and sure enough all the parents in the local area could be heard stood at their doors shouting their kids in. The second it stopped, we were straight back out again until tea was ready!
Kids these days are rarely found outside of their bedroom as they are online with their mates playing a game of football or a shoot'em up against some kids in China, only coming out of their rooms when answering the call of nature. Their food is brought up to them so they can eat in between levels or at half time of the most important game of their career!! What is wrong with these kids of today? It's like they are allergic to being outside in the fresh air! If by some miracle they do venture out of the house they have to connect with their friends online to see if they are in because long gone are the days where were had to cycle 2 miles to our mates, knock on the door to ask if they are playing out to be told he's already out somewhere! And because it wasn't after 7 o'clock there was no way we were allowed to use the house phone as it was 12p a minute then!!
So the x-box is making our future generations lazy, unable to interact with other humans and turning them into hermits!
