As indeed he does on Hunky Dory, with Eight Lino Poem! you're just stretching your punning muscles for tomorrow, aren't you?!?

you can't get that on there because of an individual thread's mayflower lifespan due to the forum style. i assume you all guessed that i meant 'mayfly lifespan', as 'mayflower lifespan' doesn't really make any sense at all. can't even blame autocorrect...

Absolutely love this Acapella version, which I've only just discovered.
Now, I'm not the world's biggest Queen fan, as you well know - but... well, decide for yourselves:

Cheers for the link, Gaz-man. Interesting read about the track's origins/production - and a decent tribute, too.

interesting that, cos on one of the various bowie docs (either 'five years' or 'sound and vision' i think) may was interviewed and said that bowie decided he and mercury should improvise separately and not get the chance to hear whatever the other was doing, and that mercury was amazed at how bowie's vocals seemed to complement his own perfectly, and uncannily. however, may was aware that bowie had just been sneaking a listen to freddie mercury singing his parts.
also, rather than retiring from the mixing so there were fewer cooks to spoil the broth, may previously said that he was annoyed at how controlling bowie was and therefore did one. despite that, i really like his little sparkling jangles on 'under pressure' it really adds to the song.
will have a listen to the acapella version when this awful liverpool/stoke game has finished. cheers for posting, both.

seen this? i've only watched the first five minutes or so and i think it's an hour in total. it's called 'dave' and...well it might be brilliant, if we're lucky. it's a tribute film to him with a non-stop soundtrack in which his songs dance in and out. it starts with a thin white duchess stalking around, each time a song proper crashed in ('fame', 'starman', 'always crashing in the same car', 'sound and vision' so far), i grinned... the thin white duchess has had a costume change already three minutes in. i think it might end up being 'twin peaks' with a 'stars on 45: bowie' soundtrack, and that might be genius, but we'll see...
here's the url for a bigger video window: vimeo.com/53207758 - haven't made it a link as it automatically makes another video window.

well hopefully it's a treat - i doubt your exam success is in......err...doubt...clearly having had to edit the above post about 4,000 times to get rid of the persistently opening second video window has drained me...

Brilliant, currently paused while I download the mix in mp3 format. This is going to be played non-stop on my phone!

www.muzofox.eu/mp3/radio_soulwax_daveUse this link, click 'Download' on the top one: 'radio soulwax dave 2011'. It will then convert the file into mp3 and then offer a further 'Download' link upon completion of the conversion. Click that to download the track. Sounds very good quality too!

As it transpired, Maccy, those conversions don't work very well all the way through, so I downloaded the video and ran it through a program I have on my PC to split the audio from the video, and it's a much better sounding copy. I'm currently uploading it to my file host and I'll PM you the link when it's ready to download.

this is a bit of a curate's egg: bowie at the 9/11 memorial concert doing simon & garfunkel's 'america'. it's my favourite of theirs, but i never envisaged it being sung over a fairground wurlitzer, like some coda from an early nineties annoying blur b-side. that said i still think it has its charm.
