Friday Night is County Night once again on Pure 107.8FM From 7pm... We look back on a busy and successful festive fixture programme for Stockport County. Alan Lord talks about his ambitions for the second half of the season - it's a really good feature length chat which you will only hear on Pure. it makes me really glad that I have the kind of show where I can let an interview run & not be obsessed with getting soundbites. Tony O Shea is our special guest, with the Stockport Silverback talking about his disappointment at the BDO World Championships - again Tony is honest & open. Plus if you like your darts tune in next Sat (Guiseley away) for a competition to win tickets to a BDO event in Blackpool! And Keith Coates reviews all the action from the Stockport District Sunday Football League. If you can't listen live, listen online from 8pm www.podcat.pureradio.org.uk

I enjoyed reliving those wins and the enthusiasm of the lads over the Christmas period. Come on County!!!
Positive interview from Lordy too.
Dare I feel hopeful to enjoy the rest of these season?.....

Good interview from Lordy, and great to hear that he is aiming for stability in the core of the squad. We've had a complete overhaul every season in recent times: Sometimes also in mid-season. I think if you look at teams like Arsenal and Liverpool you can see the value in sticking with young players for a few years. When you start a new job, any job, it takes a while before you're ready to begin taking responsibility for ensuring results. You look to the more experienced people when you're new. In the last few seasons, we've not had those established figures, and have not given young or new players enough time to identify with the club and start taking ownership of results. Recently, people like Jevons, Jacobs, Howard, Moses, Duxbury, Turner etc have stepped up and shown signs of understanding that it is down to them to drive the team towards its goals and push the other, less certain players to do their jobs consistently and with commitment. Of course, we've still got some players who lack quality or athleticism, and who either need time and coaching or need binning off. But until then, at least we've got a few players who, instead of looking around for someone else to carry some responsibility, are looking around for people who need reminding of their responsibilities. This is essentially the same squad we had under IB at the start of the year. Well done, Lordy. *Disclaimer*: If we get beaten today and go on another run of spineless and humiliating defeats, I take this back and think the squad needs a complete overhaul

Excellent post, jlc, a perfect summing up of what we've been missing and why we've started to pick up points.
Let's hope our excellent run continues today.
