Afternoon all, and welcome to EP - especially our visitors from Kent, and those Stopfordian first-timers who are taking advantage of the ticket discounts on offer today. Hopefully, many of the latter will feel encouraged by what they watch this afternoon and return here on future occasions...please don’t be shy! That said, and despite a disappointing start to the current season, Ebbsfleet will surely try and make life anything but easy as we endeavour to recreate ‘Fortress Edgeley’.
Although the points are proving a little elusive at EP right now, results do continue to be ground out away from home. Last Saturday, County and Braintree kept up their record of never failing to draw against each other. Then came Tuesday night, when, in heavy rain (and on an even heavier pitch, made just about playable thanks to the loan of Lancs CCC’s ‘water hog blotter’ machine!), our third visit to Southport within a year saw us avoid defeat for the first time.
Since our last notes were written, Matty Mainwaring and Paul Turnbull - firm County Heaven favourites, the pair of them - have each returned for a third spell in SK3. Matty and Pitbull played important parts in reversing County’s fortunes for the better during the second half of last season, and their experience will surely benefit our young team this time around. Welcome back, both!

County Heaven has been a hive of activity of late, and if you’ve not paid us a visit yet you really are missing out. Sure, the recent results have been discussed, and if you want to have your say feel free to take part, but if you thought CH is just a group of middle-aged men discussing the latest fixture you’d be mistaken!
For starters, we have at least TWO women amongst our 300+ membership (there may be more but they’re probably watching “Strictly”), as well as ages ranging from the young (gts) to the old (Archie and Lennie). We have members as far away as Australia, Canada, Spain and Dudley. Speaking of which, Dudley Hatter is gracing us with his presence today - and he didn’t see us lose on any of his visits last season!
In other news, Pouchy has recently completed a poll to find County’s Greatest Player - but has only released the results from 50 - 31, so we’re all interested to find out the winner. Oh, and if the article “Has anybody lost a rabbit near Middlesbrough?” intrigues you, have a look in our ‘off topic’ room (warning: it doesn’t end well for the rabbit!)
