There's always next time mate - I'm currently working on it! I'm only kidding, someone's got to lose. It's a great idea though, hopefully you make it a regular feature.

How about an MLS one mate? The season runs through the summer so it could work!

Yep, it's one of my shortlisted ones, but unless I'm mistaken there are 19 teams (10 East, 9 West or vice versa) which could cause problems?
I'm looking into leagues with 20 teams ideally, so I'm provisionally working on "No Spain, No Gain" for the next one. We'll see how this pans out first, whether it works, and whether ultimately people want another one!

...and it's over to BT Sports for an update on the forthcoming classic encounter between a maccnificent team and another team namely Sassuolo v Torino.
Torino Head Coach, "Rog" Ventura believes his side can go to Sassuolo full of confidence, but has injury doubts about his star striker, Ciro Immobile, who is currently....immobile. "Rog" complimented the achievements Head Coach at Sassuolo, "Macc" Di Francesco, has made during his time in charge saying "It's going to be a battle and Heaven knows who will get through". In response, "Macc" said "Rog and I go back a long way, ever since our days at FC606; it's going to be tough, so let's bring it on"

Possibly, for an MLS one, have 9 entrants so 18 teams taken up and then of all the teams eliminated have a play-off, (tie breaker) to win the 19th team if they're still in it?
I was just thinking MLS because it'll run when the European season is over!

A special shout out to a_r_s who, whilst eliminated, played a blinder on the first tie-break (Cardiff v West Ham) as he was just 3 short of getting it spot on! i would say that's rather cold comfort sandy...but actually i'm quite pleased with myself! and "no spain, no gain" is class! ...but two moderate to poor sides, both away in the first fixtures?!? hmm...i smell 'calciopoli' parte seconda...

You picked your teams at random. You can't blame me for your poor number selecting!

i blame sirius. despite being pretty unsupersitious, i have a lucky number for some reason. it is '4'. i noticed in the thread the other day that 4 and 14 (my birthday) were free. thought i'd have them, but clicked over the page and noted sneaky sirius had got in there before me. i snoozed, i lost. sirius still has two teams in the competition, i'm being night-sticked by the carabinieri. them's the breaks (my legs).

Here are the Gameweek 2 results:
Saturday
ROMA (Big Fudge) 3-0 LIVORNO (already eliminated) JUVENTUS (Sirius) 4-2 SAMPDORIA (BBLW) - Sampdoria eliminated
Sunday
ATALANTA (Downy) 1-0 CAGLIARI (already eliminated) BOLOGNA (Sirius) 2-2 NAPOLI (Dudley) - Napoli eliminated on tie-break CHIEVO (already eliminated) 1-2 PARMA (BBLW) GENOA (already eliminated) 1-0 INTER MILAN (Dudley) - Inter eliminated SASSUOLO (Maccy) 0-2 TORINO (Sir Roger) - Sassuolo eliminated
The following teams have been eliminated:
Sampdoria (BBLW) Napoli (Dudley) Inter (Dudley) Sassuolo (Maccy)
Sadly, this means that both Dudley and Maccy have been caught by the Polizia and leave us at this point.
The following teams are still in the competition:
Roma (Big Fudge) Juventus (Sirius) Atalanta (Downy) Bolonga (Sirius) Parma (BBLW) Torino (Sir Roger)
Sirius is now the only player with both teams still in the competition.... which should annoy a_r_s even further!
Gameweek 3 fixtures to follow....
