ten points out of twelve away. two out of the last nine at home. with us at the right end of the table, teams are going to come to EP with a more respectful - and defensive - attitude than in recent seasons. we have in no way indicated during the last three games that we have the guile to break that down.
their 'keeper made one really good save from dyson in the first half, but we barely worked him apart from that. everything else was routine. it was a game of poor choices. we had some nice play in the middle, but as soon as we got to the final third our attacks foundered. we seemed to be trying to overwork it, like a shite arsenal, with players reluctant to take a shot. loads of times we had a player wide in the box try a short cross on the ground, and every time they were cut out. often, they should have just got a shot away instead. colley managed one excellent bit of play to wriggle free of his defender on the left of the box, but he took the opposite wrong decision of shooting when there were far better placed players.
i thought NY was too slow to introduce the subs - unusual for him. gonzales livened things up when he came on but seemed reluctant to shoot. micah evans had a shrug of a game. nothing to see there folks. danny morton (who was apparently really good on monday) had a stinker. couldn't find a county shirt all day, and had some problems with their wide player. odejayi held it up quite well and made a couple of very good short passes to split their defence, but he carried absolutely no attacking threat at all and generally seemed a bit subdued. i only caught the colley incident out of the corner of my eye but his arm did go up (a push i thought, but i haven't watched the highlights yet), and their player predictably appeared initially to have been killed.
really disappointing. what's the point of winning at fylde if we can't see off struggling opposition at EP? (i know obviously that there are three points for winning at fylde, but you know what i mean)
