Great report, ars, and spot on about Staly.
Bad day at the office, let them have their 'glory'. The funniest comment I saw was from Mary 'ooooh I feel faint' Gibbons on her Twitter page. She seems to change her club loyalties every other week, who's she supporting next week?
AFC Fylde probably.
Idiot.

Some good balanced summaries here.
It was clear from NY pre-match comments there was to be some rotation. I understand we play again tomorrow, but Vegas was never going to be an easy game and IMO you should win your next match first before worrying about what is to follow.
I did not worry too much about the first 30 minutes. Although poor I expected Staylbridge to do that first half. My in mind match map expected just that, 0-0 at half time, a word from NY and a change or two and as the 2nd progressed, with crowd onside, the pressure would build and we'd take the game the 2nd half. We all know why that changed...
So the sendings off...
Rule, did he bite, did he not ? Actually apart from the knock on effect of how many games he may get banned for if charged with biting its irrelevant. He thrust his head at the guy, enough to be sent off anyway. He gave the ref a choice to make, he should never have done that...he should have stood up and got on with it. Deserves all he got and it cost us dear.
Hurst, did he deny a clear goal scoring opportunity ? IMO no. There were 3 defenders and 1 striker, even if Hursty missed the ball then the chances are the defenders would have cleared up. A yellow card for me, this one is a mistake by the ref.
Taking of mistakes, how long have you got ? Jezz, we don't half get them, but MUST stop making it easy for them. We MUST be disciplined. NY has to sort that PDQ.
I take from that game...
1) Play our best team every game. 2) We can't get involved in nonsense, and must improve discipline. 3) I know its unlikely to be needed, but a goalie on the bench ??
Finally gotta mention the crowd...3,600 with 100 away fans. Wow. Funnily enough although disappointed most went home happy in a funny sort of way, with the officials getting the blame for the result. Not sure that was actually the case, but just shows the turnaround in many fans view of the club / team, most if not all are terribly supportive and it will make all the difference.
Stand up, dust down, learn...and go again...

Good summary, 77, and nail on head regarding discipline. Rule was clearly a target for the wind up, and he fell into their obvious trap. Hopefully he's learned from that.
As you say:"Stand up, dust down, learn...and go again...."
Perfectly put.

I'd agree with everyone's summation of the game. Poor choices by Rule and Hurst which led to the red cards. Only defence for Rule was that our players were being flattened, pushed, kicked all the time with no protection from the so called referee, but he lost it, and a professional should not lose it.
Mind you Montrose should have gone for the elbow late on, and in my opinion about 3 Bridge players should have gone as well for elbows and kicks.
Stalybridge were no great shakes at all, but they did remind me of Chelsea, hassling to a man the referee. About time Captains were allowed to speak to the man in black and no one else!!
So we lost, it was a bizarre game, we need to put it away, forget it and move on fast. Freak games will happen. Remember Rochdale at home a few years ago when they put 7 past us - freak show!!
Onwards to Fylde!!

Yup, daft things happen...I remember Bury away one winter in the 80's, only 9 players managed to get to the ground....we won 1 nil ! Just got to limit our input into creating daftness and I still think we'll be up there come the end of the season.

That of course meant to say that Rule was clearly a TARGET for the wind up...

Although how poor must Chorley be if it took them until the 84th minute to score against a 9-man Stalybridge? I reckon our County Heaven 5-a-side team could have taken a 9-man Stalybridge.

have just looked at their forum and they're making exactly the same comments we did on saturday - the comments they were criticising us for. was a little irritated with a staly fan on the NLF, so i've linked lennon doing 'instant karma' for him.
