I'm with you Sandy, I don't know what he was doing for their goal, but what a great goal from Dyson, he looks like he could be something special also like the look of Odejayi he is one big unit, great start to the season, long may it continue.

Looked like a deflection and him late seeing it as it came through 3 players.
He didn't deal with the aerial stuff too well at the end though.
I still think Hurst is worth 12-15 points extra a season though.

Absolutely. Top 'keeper, but seemed to struggle last night.

I also thought his movements on their goal were quite funny -- if he'd stayed still it would have hit him! Still a top keeper and we're lucky to have him.

He flapped terribly at a few high balls late on too.
What a stunning strike from Dyson, bloody hell! Have to say that Odejayi's header was a real bullet, proper old-fashioned centre forward header, really attacked it full on.
Have to say that the "you fat b*st*rd, ahhhhhh" chants coming from what looked to me like 1980s Stretford End 'Lite' at Danny's goal-kicks were straight out of the 90s, and seriously toe-curling. Have those fans been in cold storage for the last twenty odd years?
In all seriousness though, it's a great start, and sneakily checking the score while in work last night really did help me through to 7am this morning, well done to Neil and the lads!
Regarding FC United, I do think they will hold their own in this division if those highlights are anything to go by. So good luck to them.

Always puzzled me how a breakaway team would use the name 'United' but the people involved seem decent enough so good luck to them.
Hurst was a bit dodgy on crosses early on at Airbus as well but so was their goalie and I put it down to the quality of light at that time of day. How good are the FCUM floodlights? For the goal, the ball obviously didn't go where he thought it would be going. I did wonder whether there was a slight deflection but also had the thought that it might be a new make of ball in league games this season. As each new type of ball seems to have its own characteristics it may be that this one moved through the air slightly differently. It doesn't need to have moved much differently to make any goalie look a bit of a muppet.
Generally it was pleasing to see the whole squad celebrating as if it meant a lot to them.

I wasn't at the game so my comments are based on match reports and highlights:
Agree that Hurst looked at fault for the FCUM goal it looked like it may have taken a slight deflection and he saw it late but should have done better.
Great goal by Dyson and a good centre forwards header from Kay.
I've been impressed with Lewis Montrose. He looks a really good find.
Three observations though.
1. I can't see why FCUM didn't allocate some seat to County fans. They could easily have given one block of the stand opposite the camera.
2. There looked to be a lot of space at the County end. Was that really only 500 fans?
3. Why build a brand new ground that doesn't have a terraced terrace?! Makes no sense.

You dont want to open that can of worms mate! If you start questionning the logic, or lack thereof, that went into planning.that game you'll give yourself a headache!

Great result.
It's been mentioned a few times about Hurst being shaky towards the end. If you can manage to watch this to the end it looks to me like the two FC United players have no intention of playing the ball and are just jumping into him.

That video just confused me even further as to what FC united actually are. One minute they're voicing their disgust at the refereeing of the match, the next they're all singing like they're unable to afford a ticket at Old Trafford.
Are they an independent football club, or an independent branch of the Man United supporters club?
That is in no way meant to take the piss out of FC united, it's a genuine, honest question.

A bit odd, too, that the footage omits our two goals. Perhaps we lost 1-0, and it was all a dream...

"Can you hear the Stockport sing" maybe if they planned the ground properly and gave us a reasonable number of f**king tickets then we might have made a bit more noise! Even though all I could hear on the radio was County songs!
I can't believe they have the audacity to claim we're all City fans when they sing United songs, wear United's kits and even have the same name just jumbled up!

Didn't see any deflection on the shot and Hurst didnt move. Maybe the floodlights played a part or he was unsighted. Soft goal anyway and I think this spurred on FCUM, when really if we had put one away early it would have been a different game. We dominated but created very little first half. As to the ground they could easily have put in another 500 County fans, or turned the extra space behind the goal into car parking. One turnstile open when I arrived, instead of two. No programmes for sale inside the ground either. The terracing behind their goal is 'awesome' and they created some noise during the match. Shame about some of the songs though and the you f** b******d to Hurst was a disgrace. Would have made a great specsavers ad though. I think some smaller teams might feel intimidated by the noise they created. I would like to see the CE make as much noise.. it only happens now and again. A definate 12th man effect there. It was great to shut them up when the first and winning goal went in.. Just a mention that stones were thrown into the County end from outside. Why I really dont know but not good enough really. Good also to see early doors our players going in hard to win the ball. As to the referee, seemed to be happy to book our players (4!)but equally let a lot of their players fouls go with just words. One point mentioned by AL last season was to stop giving away needless free kicks...our new team would do well to take heed. Great to see Dyson and Big Kay get on the scoresheet. Overall glad we won it but think we made hard work of it. I know it was a cup final for them and also their first home game so it was always going to be difficult. Their ground could be so much better with proper terracing but I believe they have run out of money. Look forward to seeing a sizeable crowd of away fans at Edgeley Park. Think we should walk that. Spent 30 mins gridlocked on the 62 on the way back as they closed off a junction. Not looking forward to the 6 this Saturday... there's always problems..

Maybe I'm still suffering from the pessimism of recent years, but I'd just hate to see that comment coming back to bite us on the arse, that's all.

"Can you hear the Stockport sing" maybe if they planned the ground properly and gave us a reasonable number of f**king tickets you beat me to the punch there fudge. exactly what i was thinking when i was watching it. i knew they did this before, but odd in a game featuring county to hear "we are the pride of all europe, the cock of the north..." etc, over the commentary. all i can say about this is to refer them to the "two andy gorams" chant.
