Morning all
Time for another team challenge – welcome to ‘The Road to Wembley’! You have already been put into teams – The Pop Siders, The Cheadle Enders and the Main Standers. Each team has been provided with a minibus and has nominated a team captain who will drive. The idea is to get from Edgeley Park to Wembley the fastest - whichever team arrives at Wembley first, wins!
Each day, I will post clues to a former County player who has featured for the club at Wembley at some point in our history. If your team get the answer correct on Monday, you will travel 50 miles towards Wembley. Tuesday you go 40 miles, and so on.
According to the AA, it’s just over 195 miles from EP to Wembley, but for simplicity I’ll be rounding it up to 200 miles.
For obvious reasons, even I don’t know how long the quiz will last for, but I’ve hopefully prepared enough players to ensure that at least one team will reach Wembley before I run out! If not, I'll hastily add some more!
There isn’t a link this time around, so no bonus points, but each week there will be 10 ‘bonus cards’ for the teams to choose from. Each team must pick a number from 1 to 10 at some point before Friday. Seven of the cards are blank, and receive nothing, however there are three ‘Bergara’ cards which hold a prize. They are:
Super fuel - Your team moves forward 20 miles
Detour – Choose an opposing team to send via a diversion, placing them 10 miles farther back
Puncture – freeze an opposing team out of the quiz for two days, so they cannot guess until Wednesday of the following week.
Please note, the cards will be randomly allocated each week, so the numbers will change!
On Friday of each week, I’ll announce how far each team has travelled, and who is in the lead.
All make sense? Ok, get your engines running.... and let’s go!

Sorry, should clarify. It is the captain's responsibility to send each team's answer every day. This should help solve the problem with the last team quiz when not everyone was online at the same time. If the captain chooses to enter a guess without consulting his team, so be it!

Yep, it's Gareth Owen!
The Cheadle Enders and Main Standers are currently neck and neck at Keele Services, having travelling 40 miles so far, whilst the Pop Siders are right on their tails, being as they are at Sandbach Services (30 miles).
No team managed to uncover any of the three Begara cards this week.
Still plenty of time (and distance) to go, so I'll see you all Monday!
Sandy

The Pop Siders might take the slightest of detours, and call by at Sandbach Towers. Better cup of tea there...!

Well, if you're comparing it to Sandbach services, then there's a better brew to be found in the Mersey!

Just putting some Esso Super in the CE Campervan at Keele.
I once drove straight in, through Keele Services and out the other side having missed the turning into the car park. (A happy misfortune I believe).
Nice start by everyone, cheers Sandy for another interesting divergence.
