The man is being told what to say, Ceef, with anything not on his Virgin media customer services-style crib sheet being completely ignored. I'm surprised he's not told the nation to "switch it off, leave it a minute and then switch it back on again".
He's a puppet, a patsy. This time next year he'll be gone, with the new leadership and cabinet completely disowning this pandemic and the sh*t show that leave will be, laying the blame squarely at his feet.

Spot on... and the really sad thing is the gullible masses will have forgotten it all by the next election.

The right outcome, thank goodness - and well done to Marcus Rashford, as well as all who supported his campaign.
How typically spineless of this Government, though, to slip out news of yet another U-turn on a Sunday and when affairs Stateside are hogging the headlines.

Lucy Allan (Con., Telford) in a late bid to make the long list of this year's most callous MPs...

A glance at her voting record suggests that there's nothing late about her bid to demonstrate her callousness. The they work you for you website indicates that she has
Generally voted against laws to promote equality and human rights Consistently voted against paying higher benefits over longer periods for those unable to work due to illness or disability Consistently voted for a reduction in spending on welfare benefits Consistently voted for more restrictive regulation of trade union activity Consistently voted for reducing central government funding of local government Consistently voted for requiring the mass retention of information about communications Consistently voted for mass surveillance of people’s communications and activities Consistently voted against measures to prevent climate change Voted against financial incentives for low carbon emission electricity generation methods
There's a lot of gaps in the information because something else she consistently does is not vote. Clearly an idle git, happy with the salary but none too happy with earning it. Her voting record such as it is, is not untypical of a type of Tory. Namely, one who wants to spy on your private life, thinks that dealing with climate change shouldn't be allowed to affect profit because she possesses neither the wit nor the imagination to see that things have to change and this country should be leading it. A lot of this stuff is high tech, including for example maximising the efficiency of simple mechanical devices like wind turbines which is really high tech and recently announced by a German business. She also seems to think that falling ill or becoming disabled is merely tough sh*t. Quite why so many people seem unable to recognise what the contemporary Tory Party stands for remains a mystery.
