I'm happy with 7 points out of 9 for the Christmas period so far, especially as we can get another 3 on New Years Day!!

Well that could've gone much worse after being 1-0 down in the first few minutes but it was a great effort from County and the fans to not give up and were soon back level, Phil Jevons has to be one of the most accomplished penalty takers I've seen at County, possibly since a certain ghostly goal scorer!!
Not the best game with some poor crossing from both sides, I thought Platt struggled a bit today it never really got going for him, still a point that I said I'd take to keep us and Workington apart!

Agreed, mhh and fudgie. I feel sure that, going into our three festive-period home matches, most of us would have settled for two wins and a draw - and, with today's opponents turning up to give it a go, County could easily have come away with nothing this afternoon. In spite of their lowly position in the table, we have seen worse sides than Workington. That isn't to say they were especially good - they weren't... and their 'keeper is possibly the worst kicker of a ball that I have ever seen! - but they did look quite quick and dangerous on the break, and certainly defended more solidly than Bradford did on Boxing Day. County, for their part, will have rued losing Turner at such an early stage - although Moke, who replaced him, got up to a few bits of trickery. And, later on in the game, we could have won. Dennis unleashed a thunderbolt of a shot, which will have stung the visiting 'keeper's hands (used to much better effect than his feet!), while, from where I was sitting, the added-time incident in the Workington area looked to be a stonewall penalty. Still, not a bad return, points-wise, from the last three EP outings. Looking forward now to New Year's Day - particularly as I conveniently have a visit to the in-laws, near Skipton, to coincide with it...

it was so poor, i can only be bothered to repeat what i've just posted on the NLF:
"dismal dreary b*ll*cks that was.
wukkie took the lead from a goalkeeping error in about the first minute, we equalised from a penalty in about the eighth. not much to write about occurred thereafter, although echoing the reverse fixture, wukkie were the better side first half and county dominated possession in the second without any great idea of what to do with it.
referee was useless, but it probably balanced out in the end. our pen was very soft - a blasted cross hit a very close wukkie arm. we've had similar appeals turned down in each of the last two matches because without the ability to teleport at will, the defender could do very little about it. the ref then had a period of giving wukkie f***ing everything, and evened things up properly right at the death by failing to give us another penalty, this time nailed on, even if jevons' fall turned it into a piece of performance art.
really disappointing performance, rhys turner pulled up injured in the first half which we thought contributed to that. wukkie looked decent first half and their number 10 took the p*** out of us for a while. maybe all is not lost for the cumbrians.

Looking forward now to New Year's Day - particularly as I conveniently have a visit to the in-laws, near Skipton, to coincide with it... hang on. weren't you visiting the in-laws for the harrogate game as well? once is coincidence..... you're right about the seven points from nine - prior to last saturday's game i'd have taken it. given the improved performance of thursday though, i was really disappointed with it today, even though we didn't lose. where we closed down and snapped into tackles against BPA, today we didn't to anything like the same degree. surely the way to approach a game against a struggling side with a terrible recent record is to harry them at every opportunity early on and get yourselves into the ascendancy.

Not as tight a game as boxing day but I put this down to the number of games played in a short space of time. Looked tired mentally by not connecting up ideas but then we missed Turner for that and his pace. Got frustrated with lack of pace up front yesterday but it could have been worse. I will take the positives from the last 3 games snd look forward to the next.

I think it is time for a reality check 7 points at home from 9 against an Oxford side who are struggling, a team who hadn't scored in 7 hrs and a team rock bottom is not good enough. It shouldn't be accepted as anything other than shocking. We were awful. They were dire. It wasn't football we were watching just bad head tennis for the most part. After Turner went off who was there that looked like they had a goal in them? Jevons too deep, Dickinson a joke, he has come here to get fit. Do us a favor Dicko get fit elsewhere.

A wide range of opinions on this thread, some positive, some accepting our position and taking any points as they come, and others not willing to accept where we are and demanding better.
GOOD, that is what we are here for. We may not ALL agree, but we all want one thing, County to bounce back to where they belong. That might not be happening any time soon, but we have all got our fellow members to let our steam off to until it does.
It gives this forum some excellent balance in my opinion, and we're a better place for it.
