Sadly at every club you'll get the day trippers who will only show up for big games or if we're doing well!

What is happening? Over the Christmas Period we currently have 6 points out of 6! Two further games and we get excited! More worrying is that we have won for the first time on Boxing Day since 2006! I don't want a nose bleed for the position we are climbing.....Then again it is ABOUT TIME!

What I found really uplifting about yesterday was that the team, to a man, played with an air of true confidence. And it's been a fair old while since we could say that!
The performance was an improvement on that against Oxford City, when County, whilst untroubled, had still looked rather scrappy. Yesterday there was even a hint of swagger at times, and, throughout practically the whole game, an obvious desire to compete and win. The newer players seem to be making a difference: Cowen is settling in, and working alongside Fagbola, better with every match; and Platt made his most telling contributions (including a delicious, defence-splitting pass for Turner's goal) to date. The Myerscough youngsters - Turner, obviously, but also Duxbury and Lofthouse - are coming of age, football-wise, while the older stagers - Dicko and Jevons - still know how to hold the ball up to good effect. Jacobs and Howard are models of consistency, and Ormson, who was far from idle up against a lively Avenue forward-line, continues to enhance his shot-stopping skills (and was most unlucky with their goal).
According to the visiting fans, one of their key defenders is currently out, injured. It showed yesterday. And if (hopefully...) he hasn't recovered in time for New Year's Day, we have to fancy our chances of doing an early 'double'. Of course, mind, this is County we're talking about - and I would be naive to forget about the 'false dawns' that we've endured following the odd decent stand-alone display in this and earlier years, but, you know, I do just get the feeling that a corner is beginning to be turned...
