Hi, I was a member on the old 'maxforums' website and unfortunately due to circumstances beyond my control went off the radar for a while. But my love of the County didn't diminish!
Am looking into a new career at the moment in Freelance journalism (but please don't judge me just yet!) and have to admit that I haven't been to EP for quite some seasons now.
I would like your views on how we are playing this season? I can't help feeling that a push for the playoffs is a little too much, but would love someone to kick that pessimistic Jeff in the teeth and talk me into a glorious run for promotion!!!
Here's hoping anyway.
Jeff.

Welcome back, jeff, Yes I remember you, on the old forum you had a suspiciously rude looking avatar if I remember correctly? Good to see you back. I haven't been to many games myself this season, but I know that Alan is building something good here, and to deny him a chance to continue his work would be a huge mistake. I'm not the best person to judge the season as a whole, but there are some on here who have been to most if not all of the games. I'm sure they will be able to raise your spirits! Hope you stick around and join in, it's good to see you back, mate.

Welcome (back) to CH matey! Must admit this platform is a far more user-friendly one than the old maxforums website.
On and off the pitch it seems like we've made some improvement this season but they're just baby steps ahead of a long road back. The standard of football in this division is rather poor, but what has pleased me most about this season is that for the first time in about 6 years we have a group of players who actually look like they care. As long as they're giving their best they will get my support. We have a few quite talented players - and we 'should' have a core group that we could build a promotion winning team around. I would suggest we are probably 4 first team players away from being a top 5 team, so hopefully while we will be around 5-10 points shy of the playoffs this season (IMO) we should be in a position to have a good go next term!

Thanks Gazza, in fact its good to be back. Wow you have an excellent memory, yeah it was a whittled carrot that did look quite dodgy indeed! Gone for a glorious view of the Caribbean sea from a hotel in Barbados I was in for my honeymoon this time. I may be tempted into something more base as time goes by but for now enjoy the view! And Come on County!!!

Thanks gts! Something I want to ask actually mate is that with us still getting a good few thousand through the gates, are the away players a little overawed and we're therefore getting some advantage from this? Or is the expectation of the fans maybe putting pressure on our players? What do you think?

Not sure to be honest Jeff. Being away at university I think I've taken in more away games than home games this season, however our home form speaks for itself. We seem to be very good at home and rather lackluster away. I would also say it seems a lot harder to travel away in this league - especially on a week night - with the players being part time and having sometimes done half a days work before having to get on a coach for a few hours and having to perform.

Thanks Sandy. @gts - good call actually, not thought about that! I take in most of the games through Twitter - @scfcmedia. Its kept me going the last few seasons and even the wife knows if I shout 'I O County!' On a Saturday aft it means we've scored and she replies "County IO!!" With gusto!!! She doesn't even like football bless her! ? Jeff

I take in most of the games through Twitter - @scfcmedia. Funny you should say that, mate. We have a dedicated section for that very Twitter feed here on CH, it's in the 'Match Reports' section. So you can log in here on match days, take in Maccy's fantastic commentary, then celebrate/have a belly ache over (delete where applicable) the result on the match thread!

Jeff, I'm relatively new to this forum but have seen most matches this season. As has already been said Lordy has put together a team who seem to want to play for their shirt and the club.
For parts of the season we had few injuries which meant that players had to perform for the shirt not knowing if they would play the following match. This is when I think that we have played best and definately when we played 5 at the back. We are certainly missing Gregson in defence and the strike force has had its ups and downs but this can also be linked to the sometimes lack of cerativity from midfield. Its good to see Jacobs back and he appears matchfit so definately is adding something to the team.
We have a nucleus of players who when fit can push us up the league. Yes we need some strengthening in midfield but Alan is getting there. If it wasnt for the away 'record' we would have made the playoff positions already.
The futures a lot brighter and I'm optimistic next season will give us 'reasons to be cheerful', both on an off the pitch.
I'll be renewing my ST.

Thanks for the sum up there ceefer. So reason to be cautiously optimistic then! I'll reserve judgement on this season and not be too gutted if we miss out on a playoff spot but then expect a flying start next season!! (I wont blame you directly though if it doesn't pan out that way!)
