Not, perhaps, the fixture that we would have chosen to help us buck a losing trend. But, then, this is County. Having been beaten in two games from which we might have expected some points, what odds our winning one that no-one expects us to? Not very good, in all likelihood... but - hey! - we can dream. And who could have thought, a year or so ago, that this would be Barrow we're talking about? Post all the usual stuff here. Best take those happy pills first, though...

Barrow aren't unbeatable. However saying that I'd be happy with a point but sadly I predict a 2-0 loss.

awful again. awful and freezing. car park -that i have a season ticket for- unavailable with no warning. not too much of a problem given the tiny crowd, but still - cheers county. i pay for a service and you provide it, yeah?
long ball again. or to be more accurate, farting around in midfield, eventually going back to the centre halves who then launch it long. ridiculous, embarrassing gap between the midfield and forwards. forwards won virtually nothing all night, which seemed partly due to the atrocious service and partly due to them collectively being useless tonight. ryan was terrible, and glover wasn't much better.
we had two deflected shots in the first half. one we thought was going in as the 'keeper had already dived, but he managed to catch it from a prone position. the second he tipped round the post. they were both in the opening half an hour and that was pretty much it for chances. barrow didn't look a good side either - the only thing that worried me was that they were getting too many corners both halves, and in a couple of minute spell second half, we were flapping and lucky not to concede from a couple. they didn't create much themselves though apart from the goal and a late shot that spilled off hurst.
duxbury was awful - just constantly giving the ball away. todd was better but not excitingly good or anything. the only ones who looked at their usual level to me were hurst and the centre halves. the midfield was an embarrassment. richie baker is often the invisible man and was mostly tonight, but lofthouse took his crown tonight as we forgot for much of the match that he was playing. wilkinson is supposed to be our unpicker of locks, but on this evidence, god help him if he loses his keys. churchman was a headless chicken; all effort and no finesse. sharp came on and did precisely nothing, but i wasn't expecting much more.
1,900, even that looked exaggerated and was swelled by a couple of hundred from barrow. cheadle end looked like it was for some sub-par pre-season friendly like the airbus game last summer. hope the rest were heartened by joe hart's late penalty save. county aren't giving us a lot to get behind at the moment, and it was freezing, but f*** the sky-blue, sky-watching jibbers.
going to brackley on saturday, but not very enthusiastically. if my county heaven non-member but reader mate hibbo jibs then i'm certainly not going on my todd. really not a lot of fun at the moment.

Positives from last night:
1. Good to catch up and have a laugh (often at County's expense) with Fudgie and Shrops; 2. Thanks to Maccy's generous loan of a season ticket, it didn't cost me to get in; 3. Home in record time, despite J17 of the M6 being shut.
Negatives from last night:
1. J17 of the M6 being shut; 2. Despite getting home at a reasonable hour, Mrs Sandy insisted on going straight to bed, rather than watch Pointless; 3. She wanted to go to bed to sleep; 4. I think I have frostbite in my nether regions anyway.
I refuse to discuss anything football related.

If it was the Booth Street Car-Park, you can thank the travelling community for having been turned away last night. I always cut through there and come out near the bungalow. However as I started walking through last night, it was darker than usual and it looked empty of parked cars. It wasn't till I got halfway through I saw a group of travellers parked up at the bottom and I had to walk through their community. Then, as they were there the only gate with access to the bungalow was closed meaning I had to walk all the way back round or climb over a massive spiked fence. Anyway, I got into the ground where it was cold! That's all I got to say about that.

"forwards won virtually nothing all night, which seemed partly due to the atrocious service"
That about sums it up ARS . We had no creativity and our passing was dire. It really isnt an advert for evening football.
Okay we held them at bay for a long time but really they werent that good and second half I just got the impression they were just playing / toying with us, passing the ball around accurately at a whim, letting the clock tick down.
Barrow headed the ball mostly to one of their players...we need to learn from that. Barrow had movement...we need to learn from that.
I was surprised that Lofthouse was left on and Glover taken off with Sharp coming on. Think Todd was just better than Jacobs. Churchman was up for it...several players didnt appear so.. We are really missing Gregson to compliment Lees and O'Halloran.
There was very little atmosphere in the ground until the second half..think the 12th man had a bad day as well.
£3 for an out of date programme was steep...should really have passed on buying one.
So what can we do with the rest of the season? Players need to re-kindle the desire and fight for the places now and for next season. The seasons not over and we desperately need a win, especially at home matches where new young fans are being introduced to the club and our 'brand' of footie.
