NB: please note the slight change to clue 1!
Sorry for any confusion that change might have caused. To clarify, all of his appearances were during the 60s.

Clue 5

That's right, the final player was Bill Atkins.
This is the first time in this quiz that no one scored the full 5 points, but around half of you got it right on Tuesday for 4. The remainder, either got 3 on Wednesday, or have seemingly given up some time ago.
Anyway, we'll get to solving the murder in a minute, but here's the table after Week 5:
1. Hatter in Macc 22 2 Down Under 21 3. Gazza 20 4. Epworth 19 5= Archie 18 BBLW 18 Calliope 18 8. Market Harborough 17 9. Bradninch 16 10. Nonleaguereview 11 11. Jamesgill 10 12. Dudley 5 13. Shropshire 3
Good Lord that's tight (as the Bishop... never mind). Realistically, anyone from Bradders up could take the title here. It's all down to solving that murder...

Thanks to the hard work of you budding sleuths (well, around half of you), we've been able to determine that the Wildcat Doll was murdered with the goal netting in the players' lounge - and the culprit was..... James Tunnicliffe! Obviously that second spell at EP sent him over the edge.
Now then, two of our usual players decided to 'go hard or go home' by using up all three of their guesses near the start of the quiz to try and get lucky.
Sadly for them, it didn't work, so Archie and Lennie - I have to admire your balls (maybe later) but you didn't score any bonus points and are out of the running for this quiz.
So too, are Jamesgill, Dudley, Shrops and nonleaguereview, who didn't make any guesses at all.
But, two of you both solved the murder on the Monday of Week 3 for 15 bonus points, quickly followed by someone else on Wednesday of the same week for 13.
Here's the final table:
1. Hatter in Macc 37 2. Epworth 34 3. Gazza 33 4. Down Under 31 5. Calliope 26 6. Bradninch 25 7. Market Harborough 21 8= Archie 18 BBLW 18 10. Nonleaguereview 11 11. Jamesgill 10 12. Dudley 5 13. Shropshire 3
Well done to Maccy, who kept his cool towards the top of the table, and made a late sprint for the title in the penultimate week, hanging on to claim victory. Congrats also to Eppy (very solid performance and joint winner of solving the murder) and Gazza (early leader, but narrowly missed out) for their podium finishes.
Thanks to everyone for playing, particularly our newcomers nonleaguereview and Jamesgill. Hopefully you'll stick with us in Quizland for some time.
Lastly, I'm away for half-term the week after next, so I'll leave it up to you guys whether we have a fortnight break from the quiz, or whether we start off again on Monday, then take a week break in the middle.
Either way, see y'all soon for more fun and games.
DCI Sandy

Excellent one Sandy.
I was guilty off going off half-cocked (so to speak) and hitting the post in an attempt to claw back some much needed points. Nice to see a few older players creeping into the quizzes as well.
Great win Macca, congrats to you.
I suggest a 2 week break (as I am away the second week !!) Purely selfish on my part.

Blimey, that was close! Ah well, I am still chuffed to have been in with a shout on the final day. So I'll take that Bronze, buff it up to a shine , place it on the mantelpiece and call it 'progress'! Well done to Maccy, brilliant win, and to Eps for a very close second. Special mention to jamesgill and nonleaguereview too, hopefully you will stick around and have a crack at the next one! Many thanks, Sandy, yet another fantastic quiz to keep us all entertained between games, between sleeps, and between, during and after 12 hour shifts! I vote a fortnight break also, but only because I think you've earned it, mate! Huge congrats to Maccy once again, fantastic performance, mate!

Yes, well done Maccy and thanks Sandy. Like Lennie, I knew that anyone with 13 points in 3 weeks could name that tune in 3 guesses whereas on 12 I was probably going to end up with a 50:50 situation or lose 4 or 5 points waiting for week 4. Can't win 'em all but I'd do the same again. Happy with a 2 week break.

Awww - thanks, guys. Delighted to have won, in the face of some fierce competition! On which note, many congratulations to my fellow podium-sitters, Eppers and Gazza. I enjoyed a huge slice of luck when my first guess was completely incorrect - enabling me to cross three additional cards off my list. On such things are quizzes won and lost. Many thanks, as ever, to Sandy for keeping us guessing. Throwing in a player from the '60s in the final week was a real curveball! More than happy with a fortnight's break, too - partly to give the Sandmeister a well-earned break, and also to extend my possession of the trophy... mwah ha ha!
