Well that was a welcome relief! Not a great game of football really but we did what we had to do, I had horrible Vietnam style flashbacks when 'Marvellous' Marvin Robinson came on for the visitors, great start which really propelled us on for the rest of the game, especially given what happened last time we scored early against Oxford City, I actually don't think it was a penalty believe it or not, I thought it was only a couple of yards from the defender AND I'm not convinced it actually hit his hand or arm, however, Maccy did have a side-on view so I will assume that he probably had a better view of it, so I'm willing to stand corrected in this instance!
Whilst it's hard to dismiss Howard as man of the match, can I just ask to anyone who was at the game, I think that Kyle Jacobs had an absolutely outstanding game, arguably his best since he's joined us, does anyone else agree, or just me?

surprised you say that fudge, cos i've seen kyle look very good on a number of occasions. i thought he was definitely one of our best players today, but i kind of expect it from him. then again a lot went down the right second half, but that was over in front of the popside - i tend to notice the individuals more when they're right in front of me.

KJ has been one of the few players this season who I actually have a lot of time for, he's not a bad player and never gives up the ghost, whatever the score, however I thought today he was covering every blade of grass and winning every single ball, we were exposed on the right but on more than one occasion, particularly in the first half, he was covering for a lot of poor play from us I thought, especially in the centre if one of our central players messed up Jacobs seems to be straight onto the ball without fouling the opposition as well, whilst I have to go with Howard for his goals, I would have also been completely on board with KJ being named man of the match as well.

I agree that Jacobs could well have been a Man of the Match contender, had Howard not rifled in his second just moments before the sponsors' announcement was made!
In truth, no-one had a particularly bad game - even if it was far from a vintage team performance. The Fagbola-Cowen central defensive partnership seemed to function, and Moses contributed a welcome bit of bite in midfield, while, further upfield, Jevons, Turner and (before he was subbed) Dicko all worked hard. I was on tenterhooks after we scored so early and went for virtually the whole of the rest of the game without adding to the tally, but, going into the festive period-proper, with two home games to follow, this was a case of the result being everything. Well done, lads.
Great to see Jarkko, as well as his Mum, in The Prince Albert beforehand. Delighted, too, that their long journey didn't go unrewarded, points-wise!

fudge: an oxford city fan on the NLF agreed with you on jacobs: "Dire game, the less awful of 2 poor sides won & county right back #2 was decent and the big lad Dickinson has apparently played football before?"
