Now
1. was that a penalty?
2. should Fagbola have been red carded?

That was a lacklustre attempt from Dennis at the beginning of the highlights, should have done much better with that, keeping it low and across the 'keeper would have helped for a start. Poor effort that.
I'm going to upset some here but although the first penalty was soft, and although their player made the most of it Fagbola did appear to nudge him, so I can see why it was given. As for red card, was he clearly the last man? He looks to be.
Wilkinson was stupid but it was over the ball, so I can see how the ref could give that given the fact he was behind Wilkinson, so maybe he didn't see both players' feet coming together and thought Wilkinson had got the other player's shin, particularly after the cheating b*st*rd had gone down clutching his leg just below his knee!
While the ref got the Wilkinson red wrong**, he was well and truly conned by the Trinity player. I don't see how the ref can be blamed as much as he has been for those two decisions.
Sorry.
** Edit ** upon another few watches, that's a red also. The ball was travelling along the floor, Wilkinson's foot was way over the ball, and even though he connected with the other player's foot and not his shin, it was still dangerous play. Both reds in my view.

neither for me, in the context of seeing at this level how much refs let go. in la liga probably both.
the first in particular is incredibly soft, even though fagbola leans in to him. it's non-contact if you can't do that. the second...well like i said his foot was raised, but their player fooled me because i thought at the time there was proper contact, and their player's reaction seemed to support that. i can see why the ref made the second decision, but the first was terrible. once he's (incorrectly) deemed it a foul though, he probably should send fagbola off.
i think that poor effort was parkinson gazz if we're referring to the same one. dennis didn't come on until we were down to nine. for me parkinson has been pretty lightweight and lacklustre generally so far. won't be even slightly bothered if we go for a different loanee once his month is up.
still a bit annoyed!

in the context of seeing at this level how much refs let go. But shouldn't we treat that as a problem rather than accept it as the norm? Both were punishable if you go by the letter of the law, but they could have gone either way I agree. i think that poor effort was parkinson gazz if we're referring to the same one. dennis didn't come on until we were down to nine. Ah, I really need to invest in some specs, cheers for the correction, mate.

It's a bad angle for the Fagbola one so it's difficult to see if it's the two players bumping into each other or whether there's a little nudge in there. The red card was harsh though as the striker still had work to do.
Red card all day long for Wilkinson. You can't go over the ball like that and expect to stay on the pitch.
There was some decent play in there (even with nine men) but the finishing isn't clinical enough.
A bit disappointing that the two County players on camera for the penalty show no desire to follow it up on the off chance that it hits the post or Ormson manages to parry it.

Both were punishable if you go by the letter of the law, but they could have gone either way I agree. yeah, probably. one of the things you hear prem managers bleating about regularly is refereeing consistency. what i've seen over the last 18 months in this division is refs ignoring/playing on after surprisingly robust challenges that i would expect to have seen penalised higher up the pyramid. i can't help placing the two decisions yesterday in that context. perhaps those kinds of challenges should be punished, but i'm not going to consider the ref yesterday to be some kind of lone wolf hero!

I can't say anything, I failed to pick up on that one too, although in my defence (and because it makes for a nicely convenient excuse! ) it was probably more through embarrassment for thinking it was Dennis! No good? Ah well, it was worth a try!

Thanks for posting the highlights, ceefer. Looked like a soft pen to me, but I've seen them given, Clive. If I was Fagbola I'd be pretty hacked off with Jacobs (I think) who loses the ball too easily in our half and doesn't exactly bust a gut to get back. Second red looked a correct decision to me. It looked aggressive and dangerous as you watch it. We need to get back to our pre-Christmas form before we slip into mid-table mediocrity.

Ok, so mid-November then (pre the Chroley game on the 18th Nov?) - but to be fair, it had been Christmas in our house for over a week by then
