From yesterday's Court Report on the Blackpool site following expert evidence from both sides as to the the valuation of the club - "One interesting last thing from the Judge - he asked both sets of Counsel in the written representations to cover whether him making a large award to VB would damage the long term safety of the football club." All evidence now given. Expecting a final judgement on Friday. What a strange thing to announce if he hasn't already made his mind up yet ? That is just bizarre, Lennie, but perhaps we shouldn't be too surprised by it given what's gone on during this whole sorry state of affairs.

VB is Valeri Belekon the Latvian banker who is claiming returns on his investments prior to the Premiership adventure.
The Belekon QC Mr Andrew Green has torn both Oystons to shreds this week. Also from yesterday in his questioning of Oystons expert valuer:-
Paraphrased - Would a return to the Premiership increase the value of Blackpool club ? Reply - It just couldn't happen to any club nowadays. But it happened to Bournemouth ! Reply - That was 3 years ago, I repeat it couldn't just happen nowadays. So how have Huddersfield managed it ? Reply - Total silence.
QC's never ask a question unless they already know the answer.

Rule 101 of cross-examination. Always know the answer to the question before you ask it.

The London Court Case verdict has just been handed down (eventually).
The Oyston's need to pay £31.7m to Belekon + Interest and + costs !!!!!!
A staggering amount. With a further £3m owing from a Manchester based case last year.
Think they might be looking for new owners very soon.

I don't know what that will mean for the short-term in Blackers, but the long-term future without the Oyston's has got to be worth any short-term pain.

£10m to be paid within 28 days, rest over 12 months apparently.
Can't use club money to pay the debt, says Judge. Belekon 50% shareholder.
Liquidating the club not really an option then. Think it will go up for sale very soon as they relinguish any assets to cover costs.

I can envisage a few with a crisis of conscience over at Fylde and Fleetwood when that happens!

Hopefully they will sell up, but you would think they have a karge property portfolio - hate to say it but inthink they could probably realise that kind of money in a year. I guess it comes down to whether they want to stay or not.

Will no doubt have to go through appeals situations first.

wow. i suspect there will be dancing in the streets of buxton! whether or not this does culminate in them selling up; whatever damage they try to cause in exit; it's toxic enough that regardless there will be howls of laughter at them getting such a substantial slap. the amount is more than i'd seen discussed - i thought they were talking £20-25m if they lost. fingers crossed that this is the beginning of the end for them, and that the seasiders will be left standing afterwards.

You just have to hope that the right people come forward to bid, as I can't see the owners being overly concerned with 'due diligence' as long as they get their price.

Jerry Springer would have a field day with this.

Soap Opera wouldn't come near to describing the antics at Bloomfield Road.
The scriptwriters would throw it out as totally implausible.
New foreigner owners apparently on the horizon with a local "living abroad" involved, and being "brokered by another League Club Chairman". So the rumour goes.
The thick plottens.
