It's all down to Fudgie then - if he folds, we go again, if he checks we have our first showdown.

I'm afraid that means we bid a fond farewell to Eppy as his Straight (7 High) is no match for Fudgie's Flush (Queen High).
Incidentally, and this isn't meant to sound condescending in anyway, but I find that you're best off checking two things before deciding whether to play a hand:
1. Working through the list on the first page of this thread, what's the strongest hand you can make? 2. Looking at the table cards, what's the strongest hand your opponent(s) can make? In other words, Eppy will have known he had a straight, but with the 3, 4, 5, 6 on the table already, there was a good chance someone else could have a 7 to equal his hand. More importantly, with 3 hearts on show, it would only take someone with two hearts as their hold cards to defeat him. A slim chance, perhaps, and Eppy might have realised this and decided to play the odds, but worth bearing in mind.

Right, seeing as the general consensus was in favour of allowing A_R_S to join the table late, he can take Eppy's spot... so it now looks a little something like this....

Oh, and I seem to recall we agreed to reveal the Flop as soon as the cards were dealt in the last game (rather than waiting for everyone to invariably check) so as soon as I've dealt the cards, I'll get me flop out

I thought it worth a try - clearly a gambler I am not! Incidentally, and this isn't meant to sound condescending in anyway, I'm a total novice to this poker lark. You really couldn't patronise me on this one, Sandbanks! I hope the advice proves useful to others. Welcome aboard a_r_s - or should that be a_r_f?
