Thanks for sharing, Gazz. Great way in which to support musicians directly.

Playback quality will be similar to the '5 inch' shaped picture disc singles from back in the day, where the actual playable area is very thin. They sound absolutely shite, because of the density of the grooves. I know, because I have a few in my own collection - they're bloody awful. Whenever I've seen any shaped 5" discs for sale online, they always state that they're not recommended for playback. 7" singles sound poorer the closer they get to the centre, because the grooves get smaller (think about it, it's simple physics), so you can imagine how bad these will be. I had to laugh at the "lower environmental impact in terms of production and shipping" bullshit, it's nothing of the sort. It's just another way of cashing in on the vinyl trend that I'll be leaving to the scalpers. If, and I do mean 'if' they are genuinely trying to create a smaller form factor going forward, I'll simply say this to those producing them - remember how those cute little 3" CD singles took off? No, neither can I. I have one or two of those lying around somewhere too. Nuff said.

I don't they are aimed at people who care about music or listen to vinyl, gazz!

I don't they are aimed at people who care about music or listen to vinyl, gazz! I agree, mate, they're probably aiming them at hipsters. I will 100% not be entertaining this format, that's for sure.
