Looks like a really useful acquisition - don't remember him from The New Bucks Head last term - but I do trust Our Lord's judgement - so another piece fits into the team.

"Energy in midfield" is exactly what was missing last season. Sounds like a good signing.

I'm hopeful he'll do well for us. Seems like a decent acquisition this.

Sounds like a great signing. Do we have the creativity to be a top team? And what Else are we missing?

Sounds like a great signing. Do we have the creativity to be a top team? And what Else are we missing? From what I saw at the Harrogate match: Big, strong commanding goalkeeper, a playmaker in midfield, alongside a good solid ball winner, maybe we can find someone who combines those two qualities? A decent winger and a big strong lad up front were needed too, hopefully Woolfe is the winger we need. That's only going off my limited view, though, mate.

I agree mate. Could dennis play as a winger or is he to "central" in his mind. Or could we have a wingback on one side to double up and use dennis as a more inside winger? A striker is much needed from what i saw last season. A big one yes, who can hold up the ball. Like a Dicko in shape

Like a Dicko in shape I don't think Dennis is a wide player, mate, nor is he suited to the lone striker role. He's a goalscorer, and he would really benefit from having someone up there with him, someone to lay on the chances for him. If Phil Jevons was a few years younger he would have been an ideal partner for him.

I agree Dennis needs a target man up front with him. I think a Matt McNeil type player would be perfect

I genuinely believe McNeil was one of Gannon's best ever signings for us. He was completely free and knocking on in years so his wages wouldn't have been extortionate.
He chipped in with a few goals but more importantly was great cover at the back, I remember Rochdale away in the 2007/08 season and we had an injury crisis and had been on a 4 game winless run recently so Gannon played McNeil at CB and he was easily the star of the show ahead of even Ashley Williams, a great testiment. A more composed defender I've not seen he won every header and was never shy in the face of a 50-50.
I think the view held by some fans was that he wasn't scoring enough goals as a striker but his whole career suggests his game isn't about goals, he's happy to be the workhorse to give the strikers like Dicko, Elding and Proudlock the glory, he was a proper English footballer through and through. One of my favourite County players, someone like him with Dennis would see Dennis double his goal tally.

Worryingly a few Telford fans are glad to see the back of him.

Worryingly a few Telford fans are glad to see the back of him. A few County fans were glad to see the back of Lambert! Not quite the same I know, but a few fans aren't the majority view, and don't always reflect the facts. Besides which, new club/new start!
