GM League Over 60's Final June session
AFC Blackpool 0 Man City 2 AFC Blackpool 0 Fleetwood 0 AFC Blackpool 1 Bolton 0 AFC Blackpool 0 Bury 0
Reduced to a squad of a straight 6 players after an injury in game 2.
Final placings after 16 games:- Bury 22pts, Bolton 20pts, Fleetwood 20pts, Man City 19pts, Blackpool 18pts
Sadly not enough to stave of relegation to League 3 in September , but a good recovery after only 5pts from the first 8 games.
Well done to Bury hanging on in a very tight league and to Man City recording 3 wins for 9 points today.
At least we get to play 4 new teams next time.Well played guys.

Unlucky, Lennie, but you'll bounce back!

Unlucky, Lennie, but you'll bounce back! Only conceded 6 goals in 16 matches (12 clean sheets) so our problem is still upfront. Best defence in our division and second best out of all 21 teams. We will find our level, eventually. didn't help losing our new centre half in match 2 which left us without a sub. City brought in a "new centre forward" who plays at North West England level (never seen before at Heywood). He was a class act and the difference between success and failure.

Over 70's Greater Manchester League
AFC Blackpool 0 Man City 0 AFC Blackpool 2 Bury 0 AFC Blackpool 1 Man Comm 0 AFC Blackpool 0 Rochdale 0 AFC Blackpool 0 Preston 0 AFC Blackpool 0 Tameside 0
A good haul of 10 points from the final week's fixtures (best return of all 4 sessions). Finished joint 4th out only conceding 5 goals in 24 matches (sadly we only scored 5 as well).
That's it at this age range until September.

We definitely shook the Shakers today. They were undefeated in 20 games up to then.

Mean defending there, Lennie. All starts with the 'keeper! Well played.

Just a shame 4 of us were in Spain on Tour during the last set of fixtures. Compromised our overall league position as we finished 4th out 7 just 3 points off 2nd place.

Mean defending there, Lennie. All starts with the 'keeper! Well played. either that or anti-football - depends on the interpretation
we'll probably go with 'defensive masterclass' just to be nice though.

Not anti-football just anti-conceding goals.

Brilliant stuff ARS.
I am but a lad compared that guy, I love his dive into the bottom corner !
Tomorrow playing for the Greater Manchester League Select Corinthians team in the Cheshire Cup at Nantwich. Struggling for a competitive squad though with injuries and holidays and we are a 60+ team in a 50+ tournament.
Hey ho. Played at Denton Town (ex Bradford Parish) in a fund raiser for them last Saturday against some vets teams (ie 25-40 year olds !!). That was hard work in 32 degrees of heat.
