Fleetwood Festival of Football (playing for the Over 50's - under protest as i am getting too old for the kids team).
AFC Blackpool 2 Merseyside 0 AFC Blackpool 0 AFC Fylde 0 AFC Blackpool 0 Chorley 0 AFC Blackpool 3 Catterick 0 AFC Blackpool 0 Man City 0 (3 goals disallowed !)
Semi Final
AFC Blackpool 1 Fleetwood 2 (1st goal conceded while we were making a sub after an injury)
Good effort with a fairly new team on show. Hampered in the semis by injuries to 2 crucial defenders

Played for North West England Over 60's "Reds" today at Martinsfield, Denton vs North East England.
NW Reds 2 NE Greens 2 NW Blues 1 NE Sky Blues 2
NW Reds 1 NE Sky Blues 0 NW Blues 1 NE Greens 2
Not sure what we learnt from that. The Blues vs Greens was a fiesty affair with 2 sending offs (4 min sin bin) and a penalty.
A couple of their guys just wanted to fight everyone. Nice day out though on a brand new 3G surface at Denton Youth HQ.

WF update for anyone interested:- Unfortunately been injured for 4 weeks - badly bruised hip (great save though !!). Thought it was career ending for 2 days. Now back in action having passed a fitness test although missed the first of the Greater Manchester League Over 60's games last Thursday. (played 4 drew 2 lost 2) Trained with the North West Regional squad last Monday - upcoming national competition for the regions in October, there again tomorrow in Denton. Played Over 65's League this week (out of goal ! due to lack of eligible and fit players. I was like a fish on a bike having lost my spacial awareness). Lost 2 drew 2 again, I did hit the post though from distance. Over 70's (underage keeper allowed) on Thursday and then League Rep team on Sunday in Leeds. Busy, busy. Can't wait to receive my first state pension payment tomorrow as well. Retirement is brilliant.

That kind of retirement sounds like hard work. I intend mine to involve a lot more sun and beach (when I get there!)

Month 2 of the Over 60's Greater Manchester League (I missed the first through injury when we only claimed 2 points)
AFC Blackpool 0 Fleetwood 0 (hammered us !) AFC Blackpool 0 Man City 1 (murdered us !) AFC Blackpool 0 Man Corinthians 0 (we were well second best !) AFC Blackpool 2 Northgate (Chester) 1
5 hard earned points to close the league up a little.
We finally came good at last with only 6 players and no subs. 6 players on holiday, injured or just unavailable. A very busy morning for your resident net-minder. I deserve a holiday. Wales would be nice at this time of year........... oh hang on .... !
