The second goal looked a foul on Hogan, but what the f*** was Ben doing?
Some Chesterfield kn*b on the YouTube comments actually claimed that it wasn't a sending off!
Tshimanga's goal was decent, but the defending was shite, especially MSH not getting out quickly enough with the rest of the back line, but Ben really f***ed up for that second goal - both were avoidable, though.

Some thoughts elsewhere that their second goal took a deflection of Palmer and wrong footed Ben.
Looked even worse from the Cheadle End though.

Some thoughts elsewhere that their second goal took a deflection of Palmer and wrong footed Ben I really hope that's the case, Lennie, as it looked like an horrendous mistake on Ben's part from those highlights.

I think his performances since he signed have won us substantially more points than they've cost us so I for one am happy to forgive him the odd howler, including this one

I'm not jumping on his back here, but we're trying to get out of this division and there's no room for mistakes like that. Huge crowd, huge game with - if it was his fault - a howler right in front of their contingent. If there was no deflection, then it's not a huge leap of imagination, nor is it unfair of me to wonder if it was just down to big game nerves. I get where you're coming from, but it's not a case of forgiving him, it's a case of hoping that he doesn't make more mistakes in the big games in front of us between now and the end of the season.

Someone behind said shot was towards far post prior to deflection. Looks dreadful on the video angle, as said.
Costly decisions on the night from both RWBs by the looks of it - MSH slow out on goal 1 and then charges upfield on goal 2, and theirs... well, theirs is a general plonker. In fact, I remember seeing King for Ashton and his mates went on the pitch during the game to (no joke) dive headfirst in the mud and get themselves ejected. Anyway, while their RWB will rightly miss 3 games, ours will no doubt be straight back to helping us as he has done all season.
A win would have been great, of course, but perhaps it's a timely reminder that we really don'twant to be in playoff games and for a season to be decided by a decision, a deflection or an error. We're more than capable of ensuring we finish top.

Cheers for the confirmation, H, I'm really glad to read that their second goal took a deflection.
MSH will learn from that defensive error and I'm sure that DC will make sure he does.

Yes, from the Press Box (opposite side of the ground to cameras, of course), we saw the deflection as it happened. Tough one for Ben, that.

Just watched the highlights for the 1st time, I know he's a great striker but am I the only person to think their 1st goal was a stroke of luck? The ball rolls down his shin and he spoons it into the opposite corner he was aiming for!! Also, loving the dummy by Crankshaw to tee up Croasdale's equaliser

Mate, I don't want to sound like I'm jumping on the bandwagon, but that's exactly what I was thinking myself while I was posting my thoughts yesterday - he didn't have full control of the shot. As a former Striker myself, I know exactly what he did as I've done it myself - he's simply mis-timed the volley and got lucky. It was a good goal, but it was purely speculative, for some reason I didn't want to post that, so I'm glad you've pointed it out. I'm claiming great minds, I dunno about you!

So you're saying "I'll let Countyfan point it out and if anyone gives him sh*t about it I'll keep my head down and stay quiet"!! I don't know if sharing the same "greatness" of mind as me is a good thing or not for you!! But I'll take it pal

The ball fell right for Tshmimanga, but seeing it happen in the moment, I have to say that I was impressed with what he made of it. From watching him play against us - for both Chesterfield and Boreham Wood - I would be struggling to identify another striker to match his instinct and sharpness. Can't see him remaining in the National League much longer, wherever Chesterfield end up this term.
