obviously, it's all gone quiet over here, and it's because i've lost most of my interest. i like the tarting up of the ground, i prefer the new badge, and the scoreboard, although rather unnecessary, is very flash. however since the regime change, i just haven't liked this accelerated strategy - let's bully our way up the divisions by waving cash at any veteran with experience. he might score some pretty goals, but i'll just never like john rooney. after a long, long period of stressing about county, going back to us falling out of the championship and continuing to slide, taking in a year of administration, and six years at our lowest ever level, i am now the least interested i have been since august 1978, when i started going to county. it wasn't the dramas, multiple relegations, or skirmishes with obsolescence that brought me here; it's that the club feels less like my club, and in the squad, there are few players to get behind, and the ones i've liked previously have begun to be sidelined. never thought i would reach the point of not being particularly interested, 130 or so away grounds down and multiple cars rapidly aged by long trips, traveling in the vain hope that tes bramble might transform into a more impactful player and do something magical. it's also something of a relief - nothing like the M62 in winter traveling home after county have slumped to a set of part-timers to make you consider your own judgement in continually doing it. but i continually did. and then had mostly stopped by the start of the pandemic, and haven't been since, despite, out of habit, having season tickets for both the seasons since. my brother's enjoying himself on mine - the draw against grimsby and last tuesday so far. and i don't care. the club doesn't feel right in some definable ways, and some that are elusive feelings and nothing more. really not sure what's next for me and county. Very nicely put and it sums up my own views far more lucidly than I could have put it. I've developed a liking for non-league football and the Scottish lower league game. It reminds me of what County used to be, altogether more personal, almost informal although the crowds that turn up are every bit as committed to their club as anyone else. It's cheaper, there's usually someone to talk football with, invariably at least one man with his dog (there were 4 at Shildon of Saturday), it's not so crowded you can keep a respectable covid related distance between you and everyone else, and you can have a swift one whilst watching the game, what's not to like?

I have liked as an acknowledgment of a heartfelt post, not as a sign of liking your current state of mind. Your post mirrors how the current county regime makes me feel…. Ditto that, Duds.

This does set out, very eloquently, where I am too. I think sacking Rusk is a good first step to healing the breach of trust but there is still a long way to go.
