....are likely to hit County, Wrexham and Torquay when the National League belatedly expunge Dover Athletic's record this season. Dover have furloughed their squad and have no intention to complete their fixtures due to lack of finances. This would mean 3-0, 3-1 and 2-0 wins respectively would be struck off. The 'winners' would be Notts County and Eastleigh who lost 0-1 and 2-3 to Dover; I don't think Sutton, Hartlepool and Halifax have played Dover. This puts County at a disadvantage points and goal difference wise and with the season likely to span only 42 matches gives us less opportunities to catch the club's above us. We missed a real chance of boosting our goal difference against Barnet which doesn't augur well for Saturday. County must appreciate the 'real' league table and therefore have spent £250k on boosting our firepower? The sooner the Dover situation is resolved, the better for everyone.

It's about time this was resolved, Bradders, so we can get on with the rest of the season and know exactly where we stand.

Will also be interesting to see what the repercussions are for Dover when football (hopefully) resumes in a more normal manner next term. I have some sympathy with any club for which finances are tight, but they do rather seem to have packed up in a bit of a huff while others who voted for the voiding of the season have respected the result and carried on.
Relegation to the National League South might work neatly, as there is currently an odd number in it - and, of course, would involve less travelling for a club with such an extreme location. Perhaps better, too, than a whopping, irretrievable points deduction with which to start 2021/22?
Of course, with this being the NL, it could all just simply get forgotten about...

This needs sorting now and not with only 4 or 5 games of the season left.
The owner was on Football Focus a couple of weeks ago and basically said that if he had carried on with his transport business without furlough he would have been prosecuted for running a firm that knew it was going out of action, and his club would be in exactly the same position.

At last, we know where we stand. All to play for and a win against Hartlepool seems essential if we are looking to finish in the top three. Let's hope our improving form continues.......

Dover fined £40K and have a 12 point deduction for next season with this year's records expunged (great word that).

Good that this has been sorted out and we know where we are.
I feel for some of the clubs in the National League without the financial clout and having to live with a small budget.
The combination of living within their means i.e. financial prudence, lack of funding, NL 'promises' and their position in the league all played a part and we will never know what the exact root cause was.
Playing devils advocat why should a club have to take out a loan to finish a season?
